It’s crazy that summer is over.  Well, almost over. Technically, the last day of summer is next week, but it already feels like fall around here.  Which is really really nice.  It was pretty hot here all summer, and with a new baby, I wasn’t always the biggest fan of it.. especially at night.  But it’s getting cooler now!  It’s a relief haha

It also means that all my fave fall fashion-y things are coming out.  My sweaters, my scarves, my BOOTS! I love it! Looking forward to wearing all the fun fall things soon. <3

Bump Update: Week 27

27 Weeks down, 13 to go.  Going fast.  Been feeling pretty good still, aside from the pretty usual tired.  But then, I’m not really sure if it’s because of the fun that is pregnancy, or the fun that is waking up with my one year old in the night.  She doesn’t do it every night, not even most nights, but it certainly makes an impact.  Of course, it probably also doesn’t help that we tend to stay up later than we probably should so we can get more things done in the evening.  I read a meme once that said parents cram all of their adult life into the time between your child’s bedtime and your bedtime, and I think that’s pretty true!  At least it is for us. 😉

Right now, this little chicken nugget is about the size of a camping lantern or a work glove! He’s getting bigger every day, and reminding me all the time that he’s there.  He’s moving around quite a bit.  He’s learning how to breathe, and is doing that a lot right now.  Also, there is brain activity starting this week!

I’ve got some of the fun pregnancy side effects, but I’m not going to bore you (or gross you out) with which ones.  It would be around now that my hair might get thicker or something, so I’m crossing my fingers for that one!!  This is my last week in the second trimester though, and I’ll be in the third one soon. Which seems like the end of this is so much closer than it is!!

Bump Update: Week 22

week 22 bump update

shirt: thrifted // leggings: American Apparel // cardigan: thrifted // socks: Target ( 🙁 )

maternity style baby bump baby bump style week 22 bump

I haven’t done these updates yet, and I’m pretty excited to share starting now!  Last time I filled out a form, and just answered questions… but to be completely honest, that got a little boring after a while.  Especially when some of the answers didn’t really change.  Such as, I didn’t find out gender until birth, and my belly button remained an innie the whole time, and I didn’t get any stretch marks.  I’d much rather talk about the baby and what is apparently developing currently with him, and any differences between pregnancies.

For starters, we know what we’re having this time! It’s a boy!  Since I am 22 weeks pregnant, he is about the size of a papaya, or an American Guinea Pig.  He is growing his eyelashes and eyebrows, and he looks like a miniature doll at this point.  He’s also moving around lots and lots, which just started within the last few days.  I love it!  Andrew was even able to feel a kick the other day, too!  I don’t think he was able to feel one this soon when I was pregnant with Autumn, so it was pretty cool.

Now that I’ve been in the second trimester for a while, I’ve started feeling better, but the first trimester was pretty rough.  I threw up the same amount of times, but I felt gross and nauseated pretty much all the time.  However, I’m told I was pretty good at hiding it :p  I am very sensitive to scents and tastes, though, and everything smelly makes me gag.  It’s pretty annoying! Otherwise, I didn’t feel like this pregnancy was that different from my last one so I was convinced I’m having another girl.  The ultrasound told a different story 😉

I’m wearing my one pair of maternity pants, and a couple of things that I bought from the thrift store which I didn’t realize were maternity clothes till I got them home. (oops!) this top is a maternity top, and it’s great because it’s also breastfeeding friendly.

I think that’s about it for this week.  If there’s anything specific you’d like to know week to week, you can ask in the comments!

Dressember 2015: Week 3

Another week of December over, AND it’s now the week of Christmas!! Time to get all the last minute stuff done (or, time to give up on the fact that the things you thought you were going to have done by now are never going to get done… you know, one or the other 😉 )

Here’s how I styled my dress this past week:

Dressember

dress: Sirens // shirt: Wet Seal // tights: Joe Fresh // hairband: Forever 21

Dressember

scarf: gift // cardigan: Thrifted // socks: Joe Fresh

Nice but busy week though! We celebrated Festivus with my husband’s family, and I had a lot of running around to do all week.  I feel NEARLY ready for Christmas.  Not quite, but nearly.

Hope you’re having a lovely week <3

I cannot tell you how excited I am about this sling.  We have a Boba stretchy wrap, which had been great for baby wearing for the longest time… but now that Autumn is getting bigger, it was time for something different.  I had been following the Sakura Bloom instagram account for a while now.  Every time they post something, I would look at how beautiful the fabric is, and how great it looked, and want one so bad.  I have been thinking about it for months.  I have been putting aside money for just as long, and I was finally able to purchase one!!  I LOVE it!  It’s so easy to adjust, which is different than the wrap style carrier.  It also takes up a lot less space than the wrap.  Plus, Autumn seems to like chilling out in there, and snuggling up to me in it.  It’s so great!

A few Saturday’s ago, I heard about a vintage market going on, which was the perfect place to wear this sling!  It was the Wildwoodrose Vintage Market, and it was so much fun!  A lot of really neat and interesting things, but I didn’t end up coming home with anything.  After we were there for maybe 20 minutes to a half hour, the sky just opened up and started POURING on us!  It got nicer after that, but it had mixed weather for an outdoor market.  I’m looking forward to the next one 😉

Getting dressed is a little bit more complicated now.  I can’t just put something on because it’s cute, or I like it, I also have to think about if I am able to breastfeed in it.  That makes getting dressed in the morning (or whenever) a little more fun!  I have my closet divided into three sections, which helps a lot.  I’m not constantly staring at clothes that I can’t wear right now because I wouldn’t be able to breastfeed in them.  At the moment, I have my dresses section, my shirts/tops section, and my “I can’t breastfeed in this”/”this doesn’t fit me right now” section.  Luckily, the last section is behind the door, so I don’t even have to look at it if I don’t want to.

It also means that when I get to go out in the evening, and leave my baby with my husband, it’s a little bit more exciting.  I get to wear a bra that DOESN’T snap down!! I get to wear dresses that have tops that AREN’T stretchy, and higher collars!  I can wear things that don’t have buttons up the top!  It’s almost sad how excited I get about this, but it is really exciting.

Most days, though, I’m living in a variation of this outfit.  These shorts! I love them.  Then a tank top of some kind, since it’s so hot out these days.  It’s a pretty great summer outfit though.  And I can breastfeed in it 😉

something that’s not babies and the weather

jeans: bluenotes // shirt: thrifted // tank top: Joe Fresh // hairband: F21

breastfeeding mama style what to wear when breastfeeding staying cute while breastfeeding hello breastfeeding style

I don’t want to talk about the weather, and I don’t want to talk about babies.
I don’t want to talk about how nice it’s been, or how the grass seems to be getting greener every day.  I really don’t want to talk about how awesome it was to open the sun roof on the car yesterday, or how much I really wanted to get a slurpee because of how hot it was in the car.  I don’t want to talk about the weather.

I don’t want to talk about babies.  I saw a 3 week old baby yesterday at my baby group, and I don’t want to talk about how seeing that baby gave me baby fever.  I don’t want to talk about starting solids, or rolling over, or onesies.  I really don’t want to talk about cloth diapers, or baby wearing.  I also don’t want to talk about baby shoes, or baby socks, or baby hats.  Or how cute and small they are.  I don’t want to talk about when babies grow out of things, and how sad it is to have to put those things away.

So I won’t.

Alysa

How is February treating you?  We’ve been super busy over the last little while, though we’ve been having less appointments out, which is super nice.  Lately, I’ve been participating in a style challenge on Instagram! It’s called #StyleMeFeb!  It’s been a lot of fun, but it’s made me realize how much I’m missing from my closet.  This was for animal spots, which I figured that zebra stripes were close enough 😉  It has also been pretty challenging though.  There are so many days where all I want to do is wear sweatpants and leggings, and it’s hard to find things in my closet that will work well with breastfeeding.  Otherwise, it has actually been challenging, but also really fun!  Check out my Instagram @Alysalovely to follow along!

So this is what life has looked like lately.  Between some weight gain issues (Autumn), some colds (both of us) and not wanting to get dressed (me), these sweatpants have been amazing. I’ve committed the cardinal fashion crime though and worn them out in public… but to be fair it was mostly just to the Doctors office and to the homes of my parents!  Now that it’s getting nicer out, I will be wearing “real” clothes again 😉

What cardinal fashion crimes have you committed lately in the name of coziness?

I love this shirt! When I put it on that morning, it was cloudy out.. I waited about a half hour and it was a perfectly sunny day! So this shirt really works.  Not only were my guns fully out (as evidenced in the first picture), but the sun was really out.  It was a great day 🙂
