Dressember 2016: Week 3

The third week of Dressember was last week, and I must say, it’s getting harder to style this dress differently! You might notice that I am an outfit repeater in this post.  Or, in the very least, I am an item repeater.  I just know what I like I guess!

sweater: thrifted // socks: Forever 21
This day was a pretty rough day.  I believe the night before, my children decided against sleeping.  So it was a cozy day of rest.

sweater: thrifted // socks: American Apparel

This is one of my favourite sweaters.  I am pretty sure that it is handmade, because it doesn’t have any tags or anything.  I also love these socks.  They go up pretty much all the way, and they are super thick and warm which is perfect for cold Winnipeg winters.

skirt: thrifted // socks: Forever 21

I got Aiden in on the fun this day!  I did the classic skirt-over style.  Makes it feel like I’m wearing something different, when really it’s the same dress 😉

sweater: thrifted // leggings: SweetLegs // necklace: gift

This was Christmas Eve Eve! I wore this to spend time with our friends, as per tradition <3

ugly Christmas sweater: gift // socks: American Apparel

Christmas eve!  We did our Christmas eve at my aunt’s house, so that’s why it’s a different tree!  Usually, everyone wears the “ugly” Christmas sweaters that my mom made.  I didn’t actually wear this for that long there, though.  It’s very interesting for little baby hands to grab and pull at the strings on it haha

sweater: thrifted // socks: American Apparel // scarf: gift
At the end of Christmas day! I was pretty tired 😉

Hope your Christmas week was fantastic! <3

Dressember 2016: Week 2

The second week of Dressember went by, mostly, without a hitch.  We celebrated Festivus with our family, and generally stayed the heck inside because it was C-O-L-D COLD outside. That random cold snap has now seemed to pass (for now), thankfully! Hoping Christmas isn’t too cold.

Here’s how I wore my dress this last week:

plaid shirt: thrifted // necklace: Finity Handmade

sweater: thrifted // tights: Black Milk

socks: American Apparel

sweater: thrifted // leggings: Romwe

shirt: Bluenotes

shirt: thrifted // tights: Target // belt: thrifted

sweater: Billabong

scarf: gift // leggings: SweetLegs

Dressember 2016 has been flashing by.  There’s about a week and a half left of it.  So far, as a collective group, we’ve raised over $700kUSD!  It’s so amazing to be part of such a great organization, and I’m so happy to be able to contribute a little bit.  Wearing a dress is the easy part, the work that IJF and A21 do, that’s the hard part.  And the money raised will go a long way to help women who are stuck in human trafficking.

If you have it on your heart to donate, my campaign page is here. <3

Bump Update: Week 34

baby bump style, maternity style, 34 weeks pregnant,

leggings: SweetLegs // sweater: thrifted

baby bump style, maternity style, 34 weeks pregnant, baby bump style, maternity style, 34 weeks pregnant,

Oh man.  I feel huge, and then I look at pictures like these and wow, I LOOK huge!  They say baby boys are bigger.. is that why? Just wowza.  I am large.

I’m posting this post on a Friday because my internet decided to go out in the evening on Tuesday, so I wasn’t able to post anything till now.  It was a weird couple of days.  I watched Spice World (to start Autumn’s 90’s music appreciation), and then we went and saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 in theatres for Stars and Strollers.  It was quiet at home, and in the evening I did my decluttering and read my book.  Nice, but very quiet.  And so easy to keep the battery fully charged on my phone 😉

You’re probably wondering why I’m standing in my closet for these photos.  It’s because I have been decluttering it, and it’s now one of my favourite places in the house!  I love it!  I want to put a chair in it and hang out there sometimes… but there’s not really room for a chair, so I doubt it’ll happen.

ANYWAY, 34 weeks! 6 weeks to go.  And they’ll probably go by super fast, too.  Or super slow, as the last month or so of pregnancy usually goes 😉

Right now, my little chicken nugget is about the size of BMO from Adventure Time!  He’s apparently able to recognize songs and things if I were to start singing to him, so I’ll have to do that more.  He’s probably going to recognize his big sister’s voice, because she’s certainly got a lot to say right now.  He is moving around a LOT!  And I’m still loving it

I’m feeling mostly good.  Except for the Charlie horses, and how much effort that it feels everything takes.  You know, the regular fun stuff!  It’s uncomfortable to sleep, but I’m so tired!  And, as I said before, I just feel so large!!  6 weeks (or so) to go, though.  It feels like nothing.

If you follow me on snapchat (un: alysalovely), you will notice that I have been wearing this sweater a lot lately.  It’s been part of what is basically my winter uniform this year.  Some kind of breastfeeding friendly top, leggings, and this sweater.  I can’t help it though! It’s been pretty cold and I prefer to be cozy to cold, so this sweater is perfect for that.

But it looks like spring is coming!! (knock on wood) At least it looks like it is in our little corner of the world.  Which means I’ll probably be able to put away this sweater at least most of the time 😉  I’m looking forward to not having to wear all the layers, and all the socks to stay warm.  It’s pretty good timing, too… my winter jacket has just gotten to the point where it’s uncomfortable when I do it up.  Time for some spring coats instead.  And, if it’s warm enough I won’t even have to do them up at all!  Gotta love the little things you never expected would be a problem until you became pregnant.

Hope you have a lovely week!

Bump Update: 26 Weeks

baby bump, maternity style, how to dress your bump, 26 weeks, baby bump, maternity style, how to dress your bump, 26 weeks,

26 weeks down, 14 weeks (or 96 days) to go!  Been feeling good, the only thing is I am starting to feel pretty large!  I’ve been having a few of the uncomfortable sleeps lately, with tossing and turning trying to get to a better position.  Hoping to still be able to sleep for these next 14 weeks before the baby comes and I definitely won’t be able to sleep as much as I’ve grown accustomed to lately (thank you, dear daughter, for being a weird toddler and sleeping 12-14 hours/night).

This week, the baby is as big as a bowling pin, or the head of Thor’s hammer!  He’s getting pretty big in there.  He’s working on his eyes, and he’ll soon be able to open and close them.  He’s also been practicing taking breaths, so this probably will mean feeling some hiccups soon!  Hiccups were one of my favourite things when I was pregnant with Autumn, she got them every night as I was going to bed.

I’ve been feeling fine, tired lately, but that’s totally okay!  And my body is already starting to practice contractions.  I don’t notice it’s painful or anything, just feels tight sometimes.  Which just seems weird to me, honestly, because of how early it is yet.. but it makes sense!

Getting more and more excited, and I’m getting really excited to steal Andrew’s office space and start on the baby’s room! 😉  I still have things I want to do in Autumn’s room though, so I feel like I should finish her “nursery” before I start on the new baby’s room anyway.

Hope you’re having a lovely week <3

pregnancy style how to style maternity pants maternity style baby bump

Now that Dressember is officially over (and the dress is all clean and hanging back up in my closet), I joked that January would be yoga-pants-uary, or maternity-pants-uary.  It hasn’t really been either, but the maternity pants are officially out!

I purchased these pants at a second hand sale put on twice a year by the Manitoba Families of Multiples group.  It’s a pretty amazing sale.  Everything is absolutely adorable, and fairly priced, and a lot of the stuff hadn’t been worn even once.  When I was pregnant with Autumn, I was pregnant during the summer so I basically lived in dresses, mostly maxi dresses.  Since I’m pregnant in the winter this time, I’m not so sure that I’ll be able to wear them as much, so having these pants is going to be pretty amazing.  And I this horizontal stripes were made for baby bumps, so I love wearing this sweater, too 😉

Happy Monday <3

last day of Dressember 2015

tights: Karmaloop // hairband: Simon’s // top: thrifted

Well, another Dressember campaign is over!  I think that it went pretty well this year.  I wore the same dress all month, and mostly managed to wear different accessories with it! By the end of the month, I was getting pretty tired of wearing the same thing every day, and I have a feeling I probably won’t be wearing that dress again for a good long while.  And, seeing how I felt at the end of the month, I’m pretty sure that means I’ll do the same thing again next year and only wear one dress all month.  Though, next time I’ll choose a dress that doesn’t tie at the neck.  I found it really dug into my neck by the end of the day and it wasn’t super comfortable.

I’m still raising money as well, you can check out my fundraising page here.  We’re still collecting money until the end of January, so there is still time to donate if you haven’t yet! <3

Mom Uniform

mom uniform

sweater: Old Navy // jeans: Bluenotes // beret: Wet Seal

mom uniform mom uniform

Now that it’s officially Autumn (yay)!! I thought I’d share what has been essentially my mom uniform for the last little while.  Since it’s (slowly) been getting (slightly) cooler, I’ve basically been wearing this exact outfit for the last couple of weeks, just trade out the specific sweater and pants.

These pictures also give a pretty good glimpse into a very important part of my day.  Nap time!!  Autumn is still napping twice a day, so I get some time during the day to get things done!  For the longest time, she had been sleeping in my arms, but she’s now fully sleeping in her crib for her naps, and I’m so glad that she is.  It was nice getting in the extra cuddles, but it’s also nice to be able to do things, like drink my coffee… and watch her sleep in the video monitor 😉  But for real, I only do that sometimes haha

The other thing is, usually I would make the room look as clean and tidy as possible, but for the mom uniform photos, I really wanted to give an impression of what this mom-business is really like.  And it can be messy.  There’s toys everywhere, there are blankets and pillows strewn about.  And I love it!

Happy 1st day of Autumn!

Baby wearing is one of the best things that I’ve done as a new mom.  It’s so great to be able to walk around and still be hands-free!  Plus, my daughter is still comfortable and cozy.  She’s able to sleep in the carrier, she’s able to still eat in the carrier, which is probably the best part about it.  At first, I didn’t know that you could still breastfeed in a wrap style carrier, but you totally can!  I love it so much!

Especially now that it’s getting nicer out, I’m really looking forward to going on so many walks with it this summer.  And I’ll take it with me when we go to the lake, and when we go on our road trip.  and and and!!

This wrap is the Boba wrap!  I love it because it’s totally adjustable, so I can wear it and my husband can wear it very easily.  It’s so wonderful!

So this is what life has looked like lately.  Between some weight gain issues (Autumn), some colds (both of us) and not wanting to get dressed (me), these sweatpants have been amazing. I’ve committed the cardinal fashion crime though and worn them out in public… but to be fair it was mostly just to the Doctors office and to the homes of my parents!  Now that it’s getting nicer out, I will be wearing “real” clothes again 😉

What cardinal fashion crimes have you committed lately in the name of coziness?
