where the heck did March go though? I feel like it just started yesterday. Boom! It’s basically April.  We’ve been so busy around here, I haven’t had time to think, much less write anything.  I’m trying to get back into the swing of things, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day.  Between taking care of babies, and making bonnets, and … let’s be real .. relaxing, it goes by so quickly and then all of a sudden it’s midnight and I’m exhausted.

I am finding myself in a little bit of a slump, clothing wise.  I feel like this is basically what I wear day in and day out.  It works really well for me.  It’s comfortable enough to sit on the floor in when I want to play with my kids, and it’s flexible enough to nurse in, or wear out.  But it gets boring to wear the same thing all the time.  I need more structured pants.  I love my leggings (which ARE pants, btw), but sometimes I feel more put together if my pants also have a zipper.  Anyone else feel this way?

Dressember 2016: Week 3

The third week of Dressember was last week, and I must say, it’s getting harder to style this dress differently! You might notice that I am an outfit repeater in this post.  Or, in the very least, I am an item repeater.  I just know what I like I guess!

sweater: thrifted // socks: Forever 21
This day was a pretty rough day.  I believe the night before, my children decided against sleeping.  So it was a cozy day of rest.

sweater: thrifted // socks: American Apparel

This is one of my favourite sweaters.  I am pretty sure that it is handmade, because it doesn’t have any tags or anything.  I also love these socks.  They go up pretty much all the way, and they are super thick and warm which is perfect for cold Winnipeg winters.

skirt: thrifted // socks: Forever 21

I got Aiden in on the fun this day!  I did the classic skirt-over style.  Makes it feel like I’m wearing something different, when really it’s the same dress 😉

sweater: thrifted // leggings: SweetLegs // necklace: gift

This was Christmas Eve Eve! I wore this to spend time with our friends, as per tradition <3

ugly Christmas sweater: gift // socks: American Apparel

Christmas eve!  We did our Christmas eve at my aunt’s house, so that’s why it’s a different tree!  Usually, everyone wears the “ugly” Christmas sweaters that my mom made.  I didn’t actually wear this for that long there, though.  It’s very interesting for little baby hands to grab and pull at the strings on it haha

sweater: thrifted // socks: American Apparel // scarf: gift
At the end of Christmas day! I was pretty tired 😉

Hope your Christmas week was fantastic! <3

Bump Update: Week 33

week 33, maternity style, dress your bump, spring maternity fashion week 33 baby bump

dress: Dress 911 // cardigan: thrifted // socks: American Apparel // shoes: thrifted //
sunglasses: Tharnzie // necklace: c/o The Vintage Honey Shop

33 weeks down, 7 to go!  It’s going way too fast, so if I could have a couple extra days added to each week, that would be lovely.  Just thinking maybe a day between Saturday and Sunday, so then the three of us can have some family time?  Sounds good to me!

The little guy in there is about the size of a ferret or a junior tennis racket!  Apparently, his bones are hardening and he’s now able to keep his eyes open when he’s awake.  This week there are some major brain developments going on, so I should probably eat lots of chocolate to help him out with that 😉  He’s kicking lots and lots and lots, and I’m at the stage where I can make out little feet when he kicks my side.  Just like his sister, he likes to kick on both sides of my stomach at the same time, and he’s starting to get hiccups more and more.  As I type this, it feels kind of like he thinks he’s riding a bike in there haha So much movement!

I’ve been feeling ok, for the most part.  Tired, because I keep waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or roll over, and it takes a lot to do anything so I need to sit down and rest often.  I am definitely bigger now than I was at this point last pregnancy, but I still don’t have any stretch marks and I’m still wearing my rings!  Though I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to do that for.  I generally just FEEL large.

We’re well on the way to get the nursery done, though, which is great.. and I’m working on a bunch of things I’d like to get done in the month of April to prepare the house for the baby.  Hoping all that gets done!

Hope you’re having a good week <3

My Favourite Outfits from Blog Posts Past

Since I’ve been feeling like I’ve been in somewhat of a style rut lately, I decided to look back at some of the outfits I posted when I first started my blog back in 2012.  At the time, I was a university student, living in a fab apartment.  I was in my first year of marriage, and decided to start a personal style blog because I wanted to play around with what I wore more.

Here are some of my faves from the first few months of blogging:

red sweater, student style

I still love this outfit!! And I specifically remember what happened to that necklace.  I was writing a midterm and it broke and the beads went EVERYWHERE.  It was so embarrassing.  In that blog post, I said that I was going to make something new out of the necklace.  Haha so much for that, because three years later and I still haven’t.  Oh well, it’s the thought that counts, right?

student style, short skirt, my old blog posts

Still wear everything except for the skirt haha just a little too short for the things I do on a daily basis.  And I’m pretty sure I gave it away last year in my April Decluttering Challenge.  Oh Well! I love that sweater!

student style, hairband, my old blog posts

Wow. That photo is straight up blurry.  It’s so crazy what I thought passed as a good photo three years ago.  At least I tried? haha yikes!

student style, scarf, my old blog posts

That “dress” now barely covers my baby bump. True story.

student style, my old blog posts

I love that skirt! I can’t wait to wear it again 🙂

I find it so funny how at the time I would just take my outfit photos in my living room and it didn’t matter how junky it looked behind me, because I thought people would focus on the outfit?  In my defense, that was a REALLY cold winter.  As soon as it started getting nicer out, I started taking my photos outside with nicer backgrounds.  😉

winter be gone

winter maternity, baby bump, how to dress your bump winter maternity

baby bump style how to dress your bump

If you follow me on snapchat (un: alysalovely), you will notice that I have been wearing this sweater a lot lately.  It’s been part of what is basically my winter uniform this year.  Some kind of breastfeeding friendly top, leggings, and this sweater.  I can’t help it though! It’s been pretty cold and I prefer to be cozy to cold, so this sweater is perfect for that.

But it looks like spring is coming!! (knock on wood) At least it looks like it is in our little corner of the world.  Which means I’ll probably be able to put away this sweater at least most of the time 😉  I’m looking forward to not having to wear all the layers, and all the socks to stay warm.  It’s pretty good timing, too… my winter jacket has just gotten to the point where it’s uncomfortable when I do it up.  Time for some spring coats instead.  And, if it’s warm enough I won’t even have to do them up at all!  Gotta love the little things you never expected would be a problem until you became pregnant.

Hope you have a lovely week!

winter maternity looks, baby bump style,

top: thrifted // scarf: H&M // leggings: SweetLegs // socks: Target // boots: second hand

winter maternity looks, baby bump style,

Looking at all the pictures from the last time I was pregnant, and how most of them are taken outside, along with this post by Forever Amber, made me want to take some pictures outside!  So I braved the cold (on this day it was only -8*C) and finally took some outside pictures!

Let’s just say that the combination of the cold going to my brain and the fact that my brain is already being affected by pregnancy that I totally forgot how far away from my camera I needed to stand.  There were more pictures but half my body was cut off.  Haha oops!  At any rate, it was really fun to run outside and get a little bit of chilly fresh air and play around and be goofy!  I’m going to have to do this more often 😉

Hope you had a great week <3

Bump Update: Week 22

week 22 bump update

shirt: thrifted // leggings: American Apparel // cardigan: thrifted // socks: Target ( 🙁 )

maternity style baby bump baby bump style week 22 bump

I haven’t done these updates yet, and I’m pretty excited to share starting now!  Last time I filled out a form, and just answered questions… but to be completely honest, that got a little boring after a while.  Especially when some of the answers didn’t really change.  Such as, I didn’t find out gender until birth, and my belly button remained an innie the whole time, and I didn’t get any stretch marks.  I’d much rather talk about the baby and what is apparently developing currently with him, and any differences between pregnancies.

For starters, we know what we’re having this time! It’s a boy!  Since I am 22 weeks pregnant, he is about the size of a papaya, or an American Guinea Pig.  He is growing his eyelashes and eyebrows, and he looks like a miniature doll at this point.  He’s also moving around lots and lots, which just started within the last few days.  I love it!  Andrew was even able to feel a kick the other day, too!  I don’t think he was able to feel one this soon when I was pregnant with Autumn, so it was pretty cool.

Now that I’ve been in the second trimester for a while, I’ve started feeling better, but the first trimester was pretty rough.  I threw up the same amount of times, but I felt gross and nauseated pretty much all the time.  However, I’m told I was pretty good at hiding it :p  I am very sensitive to scents and tastes, though, and everything smelly makes me gag.  It’s pretty annoying! Otherwise, I didn’t feel like this pregnancy was that different from my last one so I was convinced I’m having another girl.  The ultrasound told a different story 😉

I’m wearing my one pair of maternity pants, and a couple of things that I bought from the thrift store which I didn’t realize were maternity clothes till I got them home. (oops!) this top is a maternity top, and it’s great because it’s also breastfeeding friendly.

I think that’s about it for this week.  If there’s anything specific you’d like to know week to week, you can ask in the comments!

Dressember 2015: the last few days

dressember 2015

shirt: Bluenotes // socks & hairband: Forever 21 // necklace: gift

last day of Dressember 2015

tights: Karmaloop // hairband: Simon’s // top: thrifted

Well, another Dressember campaign is over!  I think that it went pretty well this year.  I wore the same dress all month, and mostly managed to wear different accessories with it! By the end of the month, I was getting pretty tired of wearing the same thing every day, and I have a feeling I probably won’t be wearing that dress again for a good long while.  And, seeing how I felt at the end of the month, I’m pretty sure that means I’ll do the same thing again next year and only wear one dress all month.  Though, next time I’ll choose a dress that doesn’t tie at the neck.  I found it really dug into my neck by the end of the day and it wasn’t super comfortable.

I’m still raising money as well, you can check out my fundraising page here.  We’re still collecting money until the end of January, so there is still time to donate if you haven’t yet! <3

Dressember 2015: Week 4

Another week of Dressember over! And it happened to be the busy busy week of Christmas, so I have quite a few more phone photos than I do actual camera photos.  I would be pretty occupied all day, and then get to the very end of the day and realize that I hadn’t taken my Dressember photo yet.  Using my phone is just a little faster 😉

Here’s how I styled my dress this week:

dress: Sirens // sweater: Banana Republic // socks: Forever 21

cardigan: thrifted // scarf: thrifted // leggings: gift

cardigan: thrifted // tights: Joe Fresh // socks: Target // scarf: gift

ugly Christmas sweater: made by my mom // hairband: Forever 21 // tights: etsy (not sure what shop)

cardigan: thrifted // socks: Target

scarf: gift // cardigan: gift // socks: American Apparel

socks: Target // tights: Joe Fresh // cardigan: gift // necklace: gift

There are only a few days left of Dressember (and of 2015!) but there’s still lots of time to donate something if you would like to! Check out my fundraising page here if you can donate something.  Remember, every dollar counts, and everything goes towards the rescue of those stuck in human trafficking all over the world.

Dressember 2015: Week 3

Another week of December over, AND it’s now the week of Christmas!! Time to get all the last minute stuff done (or, time to give up on the fact that the things you thought you were going to have done by now are never going to get done… you know, one or the other 😉 )

Here’s how I styled my dress this past week:

dress: Sirens // shirt: Wet Seal // tights: Joe Fresh // hairband: Forever 21

scarf: gift // cardigan: Thrifted // socks: Joe Fresh

Dressember: 31 days, one dress

Dressember week 3

leggings: Romne // socks: Target // tank top: Forever 21

socks: Forever 21 // cardigan: thrifted

scarf: Wet Seal // tights: Joe Fresh

Nice but busy week though! We celebrated Festivus with my husband’s family, and I had a lot of running around to do all week.  I feel NEARLY ready for Christmas.  Not quite, but nearly.
