Dressember 2016: Week 3

The third week of Dressember was last week, and I must say, it’s getting harder to style this dress differently! You might notice that I am an outfit repeater in this post.  Or, in the very least, I am an item repeater.  I just know what I like I guess!

sweater: thrifted // socks: Forever 21
This day was a pretty rough day.  I believe the night before, my children decided against sleeping.  So it was a cozy day of rest.

sweater: thrifted // socks: American Apparel

This is one of my favourite sweaters.  I am pretty sure that it is handmade, because it doesn’t have any tags or anything.  I also love these socks.  They go up pretty much all the way, and they are super thick and warm which is perfect for cold Winnipeg winters.

skirt: thrifted // socks: Forever 21

I got Aiden in on the fun this day!  I did the classic skirt-over style.  Makes it feel like I’m wearing something different, when really it’s the same dress 😉

sweater: thrifted // leggings: SweetLegs // necklace: gift

This was Christmas Eve Eve! I wore this to spend time with our friends, as per tradition <3

ugly Christmas sweater: gift // socks: American Apparel

Christmas eve!  We did our Christmas eve at my aunt’s house, so that’s why it’s a different tree!  Usually, everyone wears the “ugly” Christmas sweaters that my mom made.  I didn’t actually wear this for that long there, though.  It’s very interesting for little baby hands to grab and pull at the strings on it haha

sweater: thrifted // socks: American Apparel // scarf: gift
At the end of Christmas day! I was pretty tired 😉

Hope your Christmas week was fantastic! <3

Dressember 2016: Week 2

The second week of Dressember went by, mostly, without a hitch.  We celebrated Festivus with our family, and generally stayed the heck inside because it was C-O-L-D COLD outside. That random cold snap has now seemed to pass (for now), thankfully! Hoping Christmas isn’t too cold.

Here’s how I wore my dress this last week:

plaid shirt: thrifted // necklace: Finity Handmade

sweater: thrifted // tights: Black Milk

socks: American Apparel

sweater: thrifted // leggings: Romwe

shirt: Bluenotes

shirt: thrifted // tights: Target // belt: thrifted

sweater: Billabong

scarf: gift // leggings: SweetLegs

Dressember 2016 has been flashing by.  There’s about a week and a half left of it.  So far, as a collective group, we’ve raised over $700kUSD!  It’s so amazing to be part of such a great organization, and I’m so happy to be able to contribute a little bit.  Wearing a dress is the easy part, the work that IJF and A21 do, that’s the hard part.  And the money raised will go a long way to help women who are stuck in human trafficking.

If you have it on your heart to donate, my campaign page is here. <3

Half Moon Diner

On the way out to the retreat last weekend, we stopped at the Half Moon Drive In for dinner.  It’s such a cute little retro restaurant that I had to take some pictures.  We both got double bacon cheeseburgers (which, I thought that meant it was going to be double bacon.. it was double burgers haha) and milkshakes.  It’s a super cute restaurant and a definite must see in Manitoba (in my opinion).  Plus, it was just fun to go get something to eat at an interesting and unique restaurant.  And, I had never been there before.  It was great!

Bump Update: 40 weeks!!

40 weeks pregnant // alysalovely 40 weeks pregnant // alysalovely 40 weeks pregnant // alysalovely

I usually post my bump day update on Wednesday (because it’s hump day/bump day), but since today is my actual due date, I thought I’d post a little bit early!  Maybe, and with any lucky, I’m giving birth as you read this. What!! Could be! I’m really hoping so 😉

I am officially totally full term, 40 weeks pregnant.  But it could go over, definitely can’t come early now.  At this point, this little bean is about the size of a pikachu!! I’ve been waiting weeks to say that haha He’s been moving a lot still, definitely running out of room in there.  I’m really excited to see the little feet that keep kicking me.  <3

I feel pretty ready to be done!  But, in the very least, I’m hoping I don’t go over too much… but it’s not really up to me.  I’m as ready as I can be, but it all depends on how ready he is! We’ll just have to see how the next few days go.. but your continued thoughts and prayers are so very appreciated! And wish me luck <3

Bump Update: Week 35

bump update: week 35 // alysalovely
dress: Alternative Apparel // leggings: American Apparel // scarf: H&M

bump update: week 35 // alysalovely bump update: week 35 // alysalovely

5 weeks to go.. give or take 😉

The baby is currently the size of a one gallon jug of milk, or a baseball glove! He’s getting super big in there, and he’s moving a lot.  It sometimes seems as though he is trying to get out already, but really he’s just running out of space (or womb… lolol get it?? :p )  Apparently, my uterus is 1000x it’s normal size, which seems like a really big number.

I’ve been feeling pretty good!  Not quite ready, but getting there.  I am still having difficulty staying asleep.  Last night, I was up like 4 or 5 times to use the bathroom.  It’s so not fun, but apparently it’s to get my body used to waking up frequently once the baby comes.  Who knows if that’s actually accurate though.  Overall, I just feel so large! Especially when you compare my belly now, to how big I was at 35 weeks last time (picture below).  I am SO much bigger this time!  Probably due to a combination of it being my second pregnancy, and the fact that it’s a different pregnancy in general.  I just am really feeling pretty giant.  Although, it seems to be all in my belly.  I’m still able to wear a lot of my pre-pregnancy pants and leggings, without being very uncomfortable, so I can’t complain about that.

My rings are still on my left hand, but my claddah ring doesn’t fit anymore on my right, which is pretty normal for how my pregnancies go.  No stretch marks, and my belly button is still an innie!  This week, we’re going for a tour at the birthing centre, and I’m pretty excited for it.  I’m also pretty excited for my husband getting the chance to meet my midwife.  It’ll be an exciting appointment!

feet in snow

Winnipeg is really funny! It’s as if we forget that there is snow in April every. single. year. and then when it happens in the current year, we all complain about it.  We make jokes about global warming being fake.  We cry that it’s supposed to be April and we don’t wear our winter jackets anymore out of spite.  I am only personally doing some of these things.  It’s April, I do not want to wear winter boots and a parka anymore.  Not that I can do it up anyway 😉  But seriously, it’s as though we forget where we are.  Though, we won’t ever forget that we love love love to complain!  No matter how much snow is on the ground, it’s always the worst somehow.

On the bright side, at least I got to take some nice outfit photos in the snow! I had kind of wanted to do that all winter, but it was WAY too cold to go outside.  Now that it’s spring, it’s snowing nicely and it’s not really all that cold.

What’s the weather like where you are?

My Favourite Outfits from Blog Posts Past

Since I’ve been feeling like I’ve been in somewhat of a style rut lately, I decided to look back at some of the outfits I posted when I first started my blog back in 2012.  At the time, I was a university student, living in a fab apartment.  I was in my first year of marriage, and decided to start a personal style blog because I wanted to play around with what I wore more.

Here are some of my faves from the first few months of blogging:

red sweater, student style

I still love this outfit!! And I specifically remember what happened to that necklace.  I was writing a midterm and it broke and the beads went EVERYWHERE.  It was so embarrassing.  In that blog post, I said that I was going to make something new out of the necklace.  Haha so much for that, because three years later and I still haven’t.  Oh well, it’s the thought that counts, right?

student style, short skirt, my old blog posts

Still wear everything except for the skirt haha just a little too short for the things I do on a daily basis.  And I’m pretty sure I gave it away last year in my April Decluttering Challenge.  Oh Well! I love that sweater!

student style, hairband, my old blog posts

Wow. That photo is straight up blurry.  It’s so crazy what I thought passed as a good photo three years ago.  At least I tried? haha yikes!

student style, scarf, my old blog posts

That “dress” now barely covers my baby bump. True story.

student style, my old blog posts

I love that skirt! I can’t wait to wear it again 🙂

I find it so funny how at the time I would just take my outfit photos in my living room and it didn’t matter how junky it looked behind me, because I thought people would focus on the outfit?  In my defense, that was a REALLY cold winter.  As soon as it started getting nicer out, I started taking my photos outside with nicer backgrounds.  😉

winter maternity looks, baby bump style,

winter maternity looks, baby bump style,

Looking at all the pictures from the last time I was pregnant, and how most of them are taken outside, along with this post by Forever Amber, made me want to take some pictures outside!  So I braved the cold (on this day it was only -8*C) and finally took some outside pictures!

Let’s just say that the combination of the cold going to my brain and the fact that my brain is already being affected by pregnancy that I totally forgot how far away from my camera I needed to stand.  There were more pictures but half my body was cut off.  Haha oops!  At any rate, it was really fun to run outside and get a little bit of chilly fresh air and play around and be goofy!  I’m going to have to do this more often 😉

Hope you had a great week <3

Bump Update: Week 23

baby bump, mama style, maternity

dress: American Apparel // scarf: gift // tights: Joe Fresh // necklace: Pandora

baby bump, mama style, maternity baby bump, mama style, maternity baby bump, mama style, maternity

23 weeks in!  That’s 17ish weeks to go!

As of right now, the baby is the size of a fertility idol or a grapefruit.  Apparently, he’s forming nipples this week.  His face is fully formed, he just needs to get a little more plump, just a little cuter.  At this point in time, he can hear our voices.  So I’d like to start singing to him and stuff, so he knows my voice.

For me, I had been experiencing some round ligament pain… but since I got a super cute water cup, I’ve been drinking more water, and that has helped cut down on the soreness.  My midwife had told me that water is even more important in winter pregnancies than in summer ones because of how dry it gets in the winter with the heating on in houses.  So, I’ve been drinking more water.. and I definitely feel better!

Otherwise, this little one is super active in there.  Lots of kicking!  It’s especially fun for me when I’m nursing Autumn and he starts kicking.  I can’t wait for these two to meet each other.

Dressember 2015: Week 4

Another week of Dressember over! And it happened to be the busy busy week of Christmas, so I have quite a few more phone photos than I do actual camera photos.  I would be pretty occupied all day, and then get to the very end of the day and realize that I hadn’t taken my Dressember photo yet.  Using my phone is just a little faster 😉

Here’s how I styled my dress this week:

dress: Sirens // sweater: Banana Republic // socks: Forever 21

cardigan: thrifted // scarf: thrifted // leggings: gift

cardigan: thrifted // tights: Joe Fresh // socks: Target // scarf: gift

ugly Christmas sweater: made by my mom // hairband: Forever 21 // tights: etsy (not sure what shop)

cardigan: thrifted // socks: Target

scarf: gift // cardigan: gift // socks: American Apparel

socks: Target // tights: Joe Fresh // cardigan: gift // necklace: gift

There are only a few days left of Dressember (and of 2015!) but there’s still lots of time to donate something if you would like to! Check out my fundraising page here if you can donate something.  Remember, every dollar counts, and everything goes towards the rescue of those stuck in human trafficking all over the world.
