I’m so ready for (more) summer weather!  I took these pictures a few weeks ago, right before we headed off to the spray pad with our friends to frolic in the cold water there because it was SO. HOT. out.  The last week has been all rain, basically all the time.  Sad.

Hi friends! I’ve been kind of MIA lately, but it’s been for such a great reason, I promise!  I’ve been preparing for several farmers markets that I am participating in this summer and I’m SO excited about them!  That, in addition to our monthly May Market, of course! 🙂 That will be this Friday/Saturday and it’s going to be awesome!! Check it out at the link above to join the group!

Otherwise, we’ve been doing a lot of hanging out.  Going to spray pads, to the park, it’s been a great summer so far!

What summery things have you been up to lately?

Dressember 2016: Week 3

The third week of Dressember was last week, and I must say, it’s getting harder to style this dress differently! You might notice that I am an outfit repeater in this post.  Or, in the very least, I am an item repeater.  I just know what I like I guess!

sweater: thrifted // socks: Forever 21
This day was a pretty rough day.  I believe the night before, my children decided against sleeping.  So it was a cozy day of rest.

sweater: thrifted // socks: American Apparel

This is one of my favourite sweaters.  I am pretty sure that it is handmade, because it doesn’t have any tags or anything.  I also love these socks.  They go up pretty much all the way, and they are super thick and warm which is perfect for cold Winnipeg winters.

skirt: thrifted // socks: Forever 21

I got Aiden in on the fun this day!  I did the classic skirt-over style.  Makes it feel like I’m wearing something different, when really it’s the same dress 😉

sweater: thrifted // leggings: SweetLegs // necklace: gift

This was Christmas Eve Eve! I wore this to spend time with our friends, as per tradition <3

ugly Christmas sweater: gift // socks: American Apparel

Christmas eve!  We did our Christmas eve at my aunt’s house, so that’s why it’s a different tree!  Usually, everyone wears the “ugly” Christmas sweaters that my mom made.  I didn’t actually wear this for that long there, though.  It’s very interesting for little baby hands to grab and pull at the strings on it haha

sweater: thrifted // socks: American Apparel // scarf: gift
At the end of Christmas day! I was pretty tired 😉

Hope your Christmas week was fantastic! <3

Dressember 2016: Week 2

The second week of Dressember went by, mostly, without a hitch.  We celebrated Festivus with our family, and generally stayed the heck inside because it was C-O-L-D COLD outside. That random cold snap has now seemed to pass (for now), thankfully! Hoping Christmas isn’t too cold.

Here’s how I wore my dress this last week:

plaid shirt: thrifted // necklace: Finity Handmade

sweater: thrifted // tights: Black Milk

socks: American Apparel

sweater: thrifted // leggings: Romwe

shirt: Bluenotes

shirt: thrifted // tights: Target // belt: thrifted

sweater: Billabong

scarf: gift // leggings: SweetLegs

Dressember 2016 has been flashing by.  There’s about a week and a half left of it.  So far, as a collective group, we’ve raised over $700kUSD!  It’s so amazing to be part of such a great organization, and I’m so happy to be able to contribute a little bit.  Wearing a dress is the easy part, the work that IJF and A21 do, that’s the hard part.  And the money raised will go a long way to help women who are stuck in human trafficking.

If you have it on your heart to donate, my campaign page is here. <3

It’s a good day when I manage to take outfit photos before I get spit up on my clothes.  It’s an even better day when that happens and I’m wearing legitimate pre-pregnancy jeans.  These were legit my mom’s jeans, too. I kind of stole them from her. :p

I haven’t taken outfit photos in a while, for a number of reasons.  The main one being that whole spit up thing.  It’s not really a good look for me when I have some kind of spit up on my clothes.  But at the same time, I’m loving this whole mama-of-two thing.

The other reason I haven’t been able to is because most days, I have a velcro baby on my hands!  I love holding him, and carrying him, and wearing him in a carrier.. but good outfit photos don’t happen that way.  C’est la vie!

I never thought I would say this, because I’ve been a pro-summer girl pretty much my whole life, but I am looking forward to fall.  I am looking forward to wearing pants and sweaters and the like.  It’s fun to wear tiny dresses and shorts, but I’m excited for getting all warmed up and cozy.  And perfect timing.. it’s the end of August! It went by FAST, y’all! What happened to summer??

What are you looking forward to about the fall?

Life with two

These pictures are a double win.  Not only was this the first time I was able to take outfit pictures since my son was born, but I also managed to do it before anyone spit up or peed or snotted on me!  #mamawin 😉

It’s been really fun around here with two, but definitely different.  There’s always someone who needs me.  I’m constantly getting up and getting something for someone, and it’s usually right after I sat down. It can be hard, too, though.  Sometimes I have two babies crying at the same time, and two little people who require my attention at the same time.  Most of the time, I can only take care of one need at once and so someone else is unhappy with the choice.  It’s not always easy, but at the end of the day when I look back over my day, I can (usually) honestly say that I love what I’m doing.. and I think that part makes all the difference.  Even if I get frustrated. Even if we are ALL crying (though that hasn’t happened yet haha). It’s important work and I am so happy to be able to do it <3

week 36 bump update // alysalovely week 36 bump update // alysalovely

only 4 weeks to go! Give or take.  It’s crazy to think that in a month or less (or slightly more), I’ll be holding a new baby while I do everything, including trying to keep Autumn happy 😉

It’s been quite the week, too.  I found out the results from when I got my blood tested last week, and it turns out that my iron levels are just fine, it’s just my B-12 levels that are poor.  Which is a little more complicated to deal with than the iron levels.  I had my first B-12 injection yesterday, and so far so good.  I was told I would have pain in the injection arm, but that hasn’t really been an issue.  I’m hoping that it does help, because if I don’t get my hemoglobin up, I can’t deliver at the birth centre.  I would love to deliver at the birth centre!  We had our tour there last week, and it is BEAUTIFUL!  Plus, the labour & delivery room is massive and has anything I could possibly want or need.  So here’s hoping I get to deliver there!!

Little chicken nugget is about the size of a papaya or a power drill!  He’s getting closer to being able to breathe on his own, and his liver and kidneys are in working order.  His skin is getting smooth and soft, too.  His circulation and immune systems are pretty much ready as well.  I’m getting ready to meet this little bundle <3

As you can see in the belly pic above, my wedding rings are officially off (and I’m currently using the most blinging ring I have as a placeholder until they fit again after I give birth).  I had been taking them off at night and then putting them back on in the morning, but it’s been a few days of no rings for me!  Well, no rings, or giant ring 😉  I’ve been waking up in the night pretty often, but that’s normal for me, especially at this stage in the pregnancy… though it would help if my lovely daughter wasn’t be the one waking me up.  I’ve been finding that I’m more tired if she gets up in the night.  Go figure.  At least I can still take naps when she does!  Otherwise, I’ve been feeling pretty good.  Not terrible energy levels and mood!  Excited for this baby to come, but still not quite ready 😉

Hope you’re having a lovely week <3

Bump Update: Week 33

33 weeks down, 7 to go!  It’s going way too fast, so if I could have a couple extra days added to each week, that would be lovely.  Just thinking maybe a day between Saturday and Sunday, so then the three of us can have some family time?  Sounds good to me!

The little guy in there is about the size of a ferret or a junior tennis racket!  Apparently, his bones are hardening and he’s now able to keep his eyes open when he’s awake.  This week there are some major brain developments going on, so I should probably eat lots of chocolate to help him out with that 😉  He’s kicking lots and lots and lots, and I’m at the stage where I can make out little feet when he kicks my side.  Just like his sister, he likes to kick on both sides of my stomach at the same time, and he’s starting to get hiccups more and more.  As I type this, it feels kind of like he thinks he’s riding a bike in there haha So much movement!

I’ve been feeling ok, for the most part.  Tired, because I keep waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or roll over, and it takes a lot to do anything so I need to sit down and rest often.  I am definitely bigger now than I was at this point last pregnancy, but I still don’t have any stretch marks and I’m still wearing my rings!  Though I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to do that for.  I generally just FEEL large.

We’re well on the way to get the nursery done, though, which is great.. and I’m working on a bunch of things I’d like to get done in the month of April to prepare the house for the baby.  Hoping all that gets done!

Hope you’re having a good week <3

Bump Update: 31 Weeks

baby bump maternity style, baby bump, how to dress your bump

31 weeks down, 9 to go.  I guess I’m in the 8th month, which seems pretty nuts to me.  Slow down, time!

This little baby is about the size of a pineapple or a baseball cap! He’s moving around in there so much, it’s almost at the point where it’s weird when he’s not moving.  Apparently all five of his senses are working, and he can even react to light now!  At this point when I was pregnant with Autumn, my husband tried to get her to move by shining his really high powered flashlight on my stomach, so we’ll have to try that again haha

I feel giant, and uncomfortable most of the time.  If I do too much, I get really really sore almost everywhere.  Night time has become kind of a problem because I have to actually get up to roll over… and, of course, once I get up I have to use the bathroom so that makes getting back to sleep even harder!  But otherwise, I feel pretty great.  These next 9 weeks are going to flash by, and I’m so excited to meet my little one.

I’ve officially started working on his room, too, which is so exciting!  Of course, it would probably help if I didn’t run out of certain supplies in the middle of the project, but c’est la vie 😉

30 weeks down, 10 to go! Yipes. I can’t believe how fast this pregnancy is flying by.  It’s like 2 months away and I’ll have a son.  Unbelievable!

This last week has been a little rougher than the previous ones.  We’ve got our daughter back in her bucket seat and that thing is HEAVY.  It’s not easy to carry her plus anything else I need to bring anywhere.  But I’m getting by. I just need to rest often, that’s all 😉

Otherwise, I’ve been feeling lots and lots of kicks.  I felt hiccups once, which is definitely a change from how much I felt hiccups in my last pregnancy (every night as soon as I lay down).  But the kicks and things are nice.  Plus, it seems like Autumn is starting to grasp the idea of there being a baby coming.  We’re telling her all the time about her brother, and she just started to hug my belly and pat it when we talk about how her baby brother is in there.  It’s pretty adorable.

The little chicken nugget is currently about the size of a store bought loaf of sliced bread!  His skin is getting smoother and he’s strong enough now to grasp a finger. <3  I’m so excited to meet him!

29 weeks maternity style baby bump style

29 weeks down, 11 to go. Seriously, this pregnancy is going by way too fast.

This past week, I did the dreaded gestational diabetes test.  I passed the test, but found out that once again I have low iron.  So I’ve picked up a supplement to get started on, as apparently if my iron is too low, it means I can’t give birth at the birth centre.  (Which makes sense, if I lose too much blood that’s a huge complication I don’t want!)  I realized that a lot of my shirts are not long enough anymore, and so I’ve started wearing short dresses with leggings instead.  I also feel like I’m running out of clothes!  I have so many clothes in my closet, but I can’t wear the things I wore in my last pregnancy because most are not breastfeeding friendly.  I can’t wear other things because they just don’t fit!  I think that this has a lot to do with the different seasons I’m pregnant in.  Last time I was mostly pregnant in the summer, this time I’m mostly pregnant in the winter.  I can’t really just throw on a maxi dress and go, because it’s been too cold for that.    I lived in maxi dresses for my last pregnancy.  This time, I’m living in leggings haha

Little boy in there is about the size of a deflated basketball, or an acorn squash.  He’s starting to really plump up in there right now.  He’s moving around a lot, and probably running out of space.  I’ve been feeling lots and lots of kicks and jabs.. and he’s even doing that fun thing Autumn did where I get kicked/elbowed/something in two places at once.  So he’s definitely not got a lot of room left.  There’s still a while to go though, so he’ll have to get used to it.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the nursery and how I want to set it up, so it’ll be almost time for me to kick Andrew out of his office so I can get started on that.  It’s pretty exciting and I really can’t wait to get started!!
