Unicorn Love: Events

Hi All! I hope you are ready for more Unicorn items from Etsy, because I can not stop looking at all things unicorn! Today’s post is going to be about parties and events!  I went to a really fun unicorn themed first birthday almost a year ago, and it was such a cute theme.  I love how this theme has gained popularity in recent years, and there are so many great things you can get from etsy to help with your party.

Here are some of them:

01 // Magic Rainbow Unicorn Invitations
Have you seen this unicorn? It is so perfect.  AND this one is printable, so you just download it and you can print it yourself, as many as you need.  So great for if your guest list changes at all haha

02 // Party invitations number 2!
These invitations are SO CUTE y’all! They’ve updated their pics since I grabbed this one for my collage, and are even cuter.  I liked both of these sets so much I couldn’t pick just one.

03 // Unicorn Bag
This bag is so adorable, and what a cute way to either give a gift that matches the theme, or to give little goodie bags at the end of the party.  I just love the little eyelashes, too.

04 // Pom Pom Garland
This would be so adorable at a party and even just to have up as regular decor.  You could add this to a unicorn themed nursery or kids room, or you can have it on your mantle to give your room an extra little bit of sparkle.  This is the kind of party decoration that I would leave up well after the party is over.

05 // Party Favor Printable
This would be another super cute idea for party favors.  If you’re giving something small, you just pop this card on the front and then it works perfectly with your theme.  It’s also a printable, so you can print it up right at home, at your convenience.

06 // Unicorn Hair Accessories
This would be so sweet for an older child’s birthday party favour.  This one is a little bit spendier, but if your child is having his or her closest friends over, you would only have to get a couple.  Or, it could be a really cute bff present for your child and their friend.  So cute <3

07 // Unicorn Favor Bag
Another favor bag, but it’s too cute I couldn’t help it. You could fill this with little candies or something, and it would be a sweet little thank you for coming to the party for your guests.

08 // Magical Unicorn Card
Let’s say you’re attending a unicorn party?  What would be better than a little card that goes with the theme?  This card is so fun, and it would perfectly match any unicorn or magical party you’re invited to.

Who wants to go to a unicorn party now? 😉

Alysa

Mama & Me Halloween Costume Inspiration

Halloween is next Monday, and as a mama with a couple of littles, I really enjoy dressing up with them for things.  I know a lot of mamas have stuff during the day that they take their little ones to, such as a mama and me class, so I thought it would be fun to think up some last minute costume ideas for a mom to do with her baby or toddler!  All of these costumes have the option to add the dad, and you can even wear these on your own.. so you have the option of going trick-or-treating with your child in co-ordinating costumes, and then go to an adult Halloween party without your child 😉

Mama & Me Halloween

Alice in Wonderland featuring the White Rabbit!  Both mama and baby get to wear really cute costumes, plus Alice individually still makes sense as a costume!  If you want to add the dad, he could dress up as The Mad Hatter or the Cheshire Cat.
Mama & Me Halloween

Princess Leia and Baby Yoda is perfect for any Star Wars loving mama.  To add the dad: Han Solo!

Mama & Me Halloween Costume

The classic glam look, Holly Golightly and her cat, the aptly named Cat.  To add the dad: the up and coming writer Paul Varjack, or random 1960’s suitor 😉

What other costumes could you do to coordinate with your baby?

What’s in Autumn’s Easter Basket

toddler easter basket

Even though it’s technically Easter monday, and Easter is over, I thought I’d share the things we put in Autumn’s Easter basket this year!  We didn’t really do too much for her last year, because she was so little, but we did get her a book.  We thought this year that we would further that tradition, and add to it!

I had found the basket last year at Target when the Target’s in Canada were going out of business (sadness 🙁 ) and saved it for this year!

Here’s what else we put in the basket

Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney
I was hoping to find a fun Easter themed book this year, but I wasn’t able to find anything I really liked, so I went with the theme of bunnies.  This book is SO cute, and I can’t wait to read it to Autumn!

Easter cup
Autumn is obsessed with drinking out of straws right now, so a little cup like this is perfect.  I have a Starbucks cup with a straw and she always wants to drink out of my cup, so hopefully giving her a cup of her own will make her less likely to steal my drink.  No? Well, I tried 😉

Love Child Organics Pouch
Autumn LOVES pouches, so this seemed like the perfect addition to her basket.  It’s also a Canadian company, which I really like, and everything in it is organic, which I really appreciate.

Aero Lamb Chocolate
She is way too little to get a whole chocolate rabbit to herself, so we picked a smaller little lamb.  She doesn’t get treats like this very often, I think the last time was at Christmas, so we figured that we’d let her have a little something sweet for a little treat.  And, the possibility is there that her pregnant mama will end up eating most of it 😉

TY Bunny
This bunny was super soft and cute, so I had to get it!  I got one in the same colour scheme as the book, so they match!

What did you put in your child’s Easter basket this year?

Hope you had a happy Easter!

5 Great Ways to Ring in 2016

New Years Eve

It’s almost the new year! There’s an old saying that goes, what you do on New Years, you’ll be doing all year.  I don’t know if it’s entirely accurate, but I’m sure it doesn’t help when it comes to making New Years eve really high pressure.  Here are some semi-low key ways to keep that pressure off this new years eve:

1. Pajama Party
Hanging out in your pjs is always great.  It’s comfortable, it doesn’t matter what your hair looks like, or how tight your clothes are or anything.  Hanging out in your PJs with your friends? even better!  This definitely takes the pressure off the night as being overly glitzy and glam and lets you kick back and hang.  It could even turn into a sleepover, if you wanted it to.

2. Cabin Party
Do you have access to a cabin or know someone who does?  It’s lots of fun to go out into the woods and spend the night there.  The only catch would be if your cabin isn’t good for all seasons, otherwise it’ll be really cold!

3. Heatwave Party
We did this a few times at the apartment and it was really fun, just not at New Years.  Generally it’s pretty frigid at New Years in Winnipeg, so a heatwave party would be perfect.  Basically, you tell everyone to wear shorts and hot weather clothes and then you turn the heat way the heck up.  It’s super hot, and you can go more specific with themes.  We did a “Summer in February” party, with summer themes, and a “Red Hot” party, where we encouraged people to wear red.  It’s the perfect party to throw in an apartment… especially in an apartment where you don’t pay for heat.

4. Dinner Party
Maybe a fancy grown-up party is what you’re after.  A full sit-down dinner party is where it’s at!  You can do pot luck style, or you can provide all the food yourself.  Either way, it’s sure it be a lot of fun.  Just don’t forget the champagne at midnight!

5. Hermit Party
None of the above appeal to you? The only thing you like on this list is the part about pjs?  There is absolutely nothing wrong with not going out on New Years.  Whether it’s you and your significant other, you and your kids, or you and your pets, get cozy and watch a movie or something.  It’s YOUR New Years eve.  Who said you had to go anywhere and see anyone anyway?  😉

What are you doing tomorrow night for New Years Eve?

Things to get SOMEONE ELSE to do on your wedding day

5 things to get someone else to do on your wedding day

Planning a wedding can be hard, and there is a lot to do when you’re the bride or groom!  There are also lots of people around (namely, your family and your wedding party) who are there to do things for you and for your wedding.  It will make your life easier, especially on the day of your wedding, if you delegate the following tasks to someone else so you can focus on your beloved and on having a great day.

1. Dealing with your gifts
Chances are, loved as you are, you will receive a fair amount of wedding gifts.  Get someone else to take care of bringing them out of the church or venue.  It’ll be a weight off of your mind and shoulders to get someone else to take care of this.  We had one of our groomsmen take care of the envelopes for us, and one of our parents took care of the gifts!  It was great we didn’t have to think about it.

2. Figuring out food for your wedding party
If you have lots of pictures to take between the ceremony and the reception.  You, and your wedding party, will probably get hungry.  The last thing you want is to have to scrounge around to find food for everyone.  And you want nice pictures, so you don’t want your wedding party to be starving!  Get someone else to put together a cooler of food and drinks for your day.  That way, you won’t have to worry about it, and no one will starve.

3. Picking up the flowers
This is something that can be done first thing in the morning, when you’re getting your hair and makeup done.. or when you’re eating your breakfast.  Getting someone else to do this means that the job is definitely getting done, and you don’t have to rush through any of the above things to do it yourself.  You can relax and enjoy the morning of your wedding.  It’s a win-win!

4. Decorating the venue
If you’re able to decorate the venue the day before, you can do that.. but if you’re not able to get into it the day before because of another event, get someone else to do this for you!  For the same reason as number 3.  If you also have to decorate the venue, your morning will be so rushed and you won’t be able to enjoy yourself.  This is your day!  Delegate this task to others and let them take care of these things.

5. Cleaning up after
A lot of couples these days will stay right to the end of their reception.. but don’t feel like you need to help clean up.  That is part of the deal when it comes to being in the wedding party.  You go spend time with your new husband/wife!! Cleaning up is the last thing you should be doing that night 😉

What are other wedding tasks that can be delegated to others?

Alysa
