2 weeks (or so) to go! This is gettin’ real ūüėČ ¬†Time to finish all the things so that we’re totally ready for baby. ¬†I’ve been keeping on top of laundry, so hopefully we won’t have a build up like last time. ¬†I’ve been keeping on top of general cleaning, so hopefully it won’t be a total disaster. ¬†And I’ve got a well stocked freezer full of meals we will just need to remember to take out the night before so that they’re ready to go for the day we need them. ¬†I want to do a big deep clean of all of my cloth diapers, including the ones that Autumn wears. ¬†Just because it’ll be nice to do it! ¬†We still need to get all the pictures on the walls of the nursery, and get everything in there put away. ¬†But I feel like that’s about all! ¬†That, and all the upcoming appointments. ¬†I had my 38 week appointment yesterday, and Autumn has her 18 month checkup tomorrow, so it’s a busy week! ¬†And then Mother’s Day is on Sunday, and I’m pretty excited about what we’re giving our moms for it. Can’t wait to give it to them!

At this point, my little chicken nugget is about the size of a chopped firewood log, an Oscar statuette or a bucket of fried chicken! ¬†He’s growing really nicely in there. ¬†He may have an inch or so of hair already, but we’ll see! ¬†Autumn didn’t have much hair at birth, so it would be fun if he had a lot of hair.

I’ve been feeling pretty good, mostly. ¬†I think that the B-12 injections are helping. ¬†I was thinking about this on Sunday and I think that, overall, I really do enjoy being pregnant. ¬†Of course, there are things that I don’t like about it.. like the fact that I’m uncomfortable, and how I have trouble staying asleep because I can’t sleep on my stomach like I really want to.. but there are so many great things about it, too. ¬†I love seeing how my body changes to accommodate a little one. ¬†I love seeing my midsection grow. ¬†And, of course, the end result is pretty fabulous. <3

Approximately three weeks left. ¬†Is it time to start freaking out yet? ¬†I’m really trying to remember the way I felt this time last pregnancy, but all I remember is having a ton of schoolwork to do, and I think that kept me preoccupied enough that I didn’t feel too uncomfortable. ¬†I am VERY uncomfortable this time, and I feel absolutely giant. ¬†My midwife thinks that this baby will be bigger than Autumn was at birth, but then it’s common for boys to be bigger than girls. ¬†We’ll see how it goes anyway!

This little chicken nugget is about the size of¬†Zack Morris’ brick phone, or half a medium pizza! ¬†He’s practicing sucking, inhaling and exhaling and he’s working on his very first poop haha. ¬†He’s been kicking me and moving around lots, it’ll be weird when I won’t be getting those kicks anymore. ¬†I think that he’s considered “full term” so he could technically come at any time, but there are still a few things I’d like to get done before that happens so hopefully it won’t be too soon ūüėČ

30 weeks down, 10 to go! Yipes. I can’t believe how fast this pregnancy is flying by. ¬†It’s like 2 months away and I’ll have a son. ¬†Unbelievable!

This last week has been a little rougher than the previous ones. ¬†We’ve got our daughter back in her bucket seat and that thing is HEAVY. ¬†It’s not easy to carry her plus anything else I need to bring anywhere. ¬†But I’m getting by. I just need to rest often, that’s all ūüėČ

Otherwise, I’ve been feeling lots and lots of kicks. ¬†I felt hiccups once, which is definitely a change from how much I felt hiccups in my last pregnancy (every night as soon as I lay down). ¬†But the kicks and things are nice. ¬†Plus, it seems like Autumn is starting to grasp the idea of there being a baby coming. ¬†We’re telling her all the time about her brother, and she just started to hug my belly and pat it when we talk about how her baby brother is in there. ¬†It’s pretty adorable.

The little chicken nugget is currently about the size of a store bought loaf of sliced bread! ¬†His skin is getting smoother and he’s strong enough now to grasp a finger. <3 ¬†I’m so excited to meet him!

Blue Monday

maternity style, baby bump, mama style, little black dress

dress: second hand // tights: Joe Fresh // shoes: Le Chateau // hairband: Aldo

baby bump, new mama style, maternity, dressing up the bump baby bump, maternity style, little black dress baby bump style, maternity dress

According to the internet, today is “Blue Monday”. ¬†Apparently, there’s some pseudo-science that says that the third Monday of January is the most depressing Monday of the year? Or something like that. ¬†I could totally see how that might happen, especially living in Winnipeg. ¬†January is the worst in Winnipeg bc everything is frozen and yuck. ¬†It’s so easy to hibernate here, especially at this point in January. ¬†And especially as someone who doesn’t like being outside and is always cold regardless.

But it’s also Monday, so for me that means going on my “mama break” — grocery shopping All By Myself. ¬†We worked it out that I go grocery shopping after bedtime because the store I shop at is open until 11:00pm, and it’s so great that it is! ¬†Every so often we have a little bit of a late bedtime, so I know I still have tons of time to get groceries. ¬†PLUS, there is a Starbucks on the way-ish to the store, so I get to pick up a nice hot beverage on the way. ¬†Then, I get to take my time and go up and down every aisle. ¬†It’s really nice.

So, that’s how I’ll be beating the Blues this Blue Monday, how do you plan on making today less depressing?

Alysa

Week one of Dressember is over, and so far it’s been pretty great! ¬†This year, I’m wearing the same dress every day, only I’m styling it differently. ¬†The challenge will be trying to find different accessories every day. ¬†Considering I’ve already wanted to wear the same cardigan two days in a row, there might be some exact repeat outfits… but we’ll see how that goes!

How far along?
32 weeks

Baby Size:
As long as a stalk of kale (aka approx 16.5inches long)

Total weight gain:
I haven’t been keeping track of this, and I’m pretty glad that I haven’t. ¬†I see the weight on the scale when they weigh me every two weeks at the Doctor’s office, but it’s not in pounds so I have no frame of reference for how much weight I’ve gained. ¬†I think that if there were a problem, my doctor would say something, and she hasn’t so I’m happy with how much weight I’ve gained over this pregnancy. ¬†And I don’t normally share this because I think it doesn’t matter. ¬†What’s important is that the baby seems to be healthy, and that I’m staying healthy. ¬†That’s it!

Maternity clothes?
None! ¬†I am adding more clothes to the “Does Not Fit” rack every day, but I haven’t purchased any maternity specific clothes as of yet.

Stretch marks?
None I can see, and I am not looking ūüėČ

Sleep:
On and off good. ¬†I am having trouble with my legs hurting at night because of how I’m sleeping on my side, and that wakes me up at night.

Best moment this week:
My birthday party! It was so nice to have so many of my friends all in one place <3 I definitely felt the love.

Miss anything?
Being able to wear “real” pants! aka non-stretch pants. ¬†It’s nice that I have leggings and yoga pants, and I have been able to wear them throughout my pregnancy, but it would be nice to wear some tailored pants, too! Or jeans. ¬†I never thought I’d miss wearing jeans, but seeing everyones back to school styles that include jeans.. makes me miss it!

Movement:
Tonnes! All the time! I love it though. It’s reassuring to be able to feel little kicks, nudges and even hiccups all day.

Food cravings:
JELLO! My husband thinks that this is hilarious, and it also makes him happy because of how cheap jello is haha

Symptoms:
I get winded easily. ¬†I get to walk from the toonie lot to my classroom in Frank Kennedy on Tuesdays for class, and that was a tough walk yesterday! ¬†I’ll have to be sure to get there earlier so I can take my time.

Belly button in or out?
In

Wedding rings on or off?
On

Happy or moody most of the time:
Pretty happy most of the time, but it really depends on the day (and how productive I’ve been that day)

Looking forward to:
Being done all this work for school!! I can’t wait to be done ūüôā

xoxo,
Alysa

Birthday Wish List

dress: Keiko Lynn/Postlapsaria // belt: Wet Seal // booties: thrifted (Aldo) // hairband: F21 // necklace: 1-gift, 2-Prairie Blossoms on Etsy

I can’t believe that I’m turning 30 tomorrow! ¬†Where did my 20’s go? like really. ¬†It’s surreal, but I think I’m pretty much ready. ¬†At any rate, I have been thinking a lot lately about somethings I want for my birthday, and here is what I’ve come up with:

1. A massage
A prenatal massage would be LOVELY! ¬†I’ve been having problems with lower back pain over the last couple of weeks or so, and having a massage would be amazing.

2. My nursery to be done
Lets be real. At this point, it’s still pretty much just boxes and storage of other things (with a crib!) ¬†It’ll be nice to have it finished so we know where we’re going to put the baby when it comes.

3. Mario Kart on the Wii
I love anything Mario, and I’d love to be able to play some Mario games on our Wii.. which is hooked up, waiting to be played with. ¬†The last time I used it though was when I was playing with the Wii Fit every day, which was before I got pregnant.

4. The first season of Sex and the City
Now that I’m done watching Gossip Girl, I thought I’d re-watch through the series of Sex and the City. ¬†Which was going to be perfect, because I have them on DVD… well… except for the first season. ¬†Which is kind of important. ¬†I had inherited the dvds from my sister when she moved away, and I totally forgot that we had the first season on VHS! Yikes! ¬†At least I have season 2-6 & the movie on DVD, right? ¬†All I want is the first season (and with the old looking boxes… so they match the ones I already have ūüėČ )

5. Starbucks gift card!!
I always want this, at any time of year tbh. ¬†Can’t get enough. It would be lovely to have more money for Sbux going into the school year.

That’s it though. ¬†I would normally want clothes.. but there’s no real point in buying clothes that I’m only going to be able to wear for a few months.

Alysa

Bump Day: Week 31!

shirt: clothing swap // leggings: Victoria’s Secret // sandals: H&M // hairband: F21

How far along?
31 Weeks

Baby Size:
Weighs as much as a coconut (aka approx 3lbs 5oz)

Maternity clothes?
None. I can’t wear all of my pre-pregnancy clothes.. but I’m still wearing a lot of my pre-pregnancy clothes!

Stretch marks?
Nope

Sleep:
Okay I guess. ¬†It depends on the night, but I’m still tossing and turning a LOT!

Best moment this week:
Being able to stand up for my two best friends on their wedding day!

Miss anything?
I wasn’t able to dance as much as I would have liked at the reception haha. I danced for like a song and a half and needed to sit down. ¬†Oh well, it was still an amazing night.

Movement:
Lots of movement! Gotta love the kicks to the ribs, too

Food cravings:
Chips!!! Ketchup chips!

Anything making you queasy or sick:
Not really! This was a good week for smells

Belly button in or out?
In

Wedding rings on or off?
Still on!

Happy or moody most of the time:
I think I’m back to being happy most of the time! It’s gotten cooler out, and I feel like my grumpiness came from the extreme heat and humidity we’ve been having.

Looking forward to:
School starting! I can have access to my online stuff tomorrow, and I have my (last) first class on Tuesday! ¬†Eek, that’s weird to say, but it’s true! I’m almost done and that will be my LAST first class! ¬†So excited to graduate.

Anything else you’d like to know? Ask in the comments!

Alysa
