Welp. I’m officially one week overdue.  Which is weird.  I never made it this far when I was pregnant with Autumn, so I’ve never been this pregnant before.  I’m totally and completely done though, it just seems like this little guy just hasn’t gotten that memo.  Hoping that he comes quick quick quick! I’m ready to hold him in my arms and snuggle him, and introduce him to Autumn, and show him off!

I’ve been basically living in maxi dresses lately.  I’m at the point of the pregnancy where I can’t be bothered to put lots of effort into what I’m wearing or makeup or things.  It’s tiring.  Plus, Autumn seems to be in a state where she constantly wants to be held.  Not that I mind, but it makes putting on makeup quite difficult.  I think she knows that a big change is coming!  I’m excited for her to be a big sister.

Wish me luck this week/keep us in your prayers!! I’m hoping this baby comes sooner rather than later 😉

40 weeks pregnant // alysalovely 40 weeks pregnant // alysalovely 40 weeks pregnant // alysalovely

I usually post my bump day update on Wednesday (because it’s hump day/bump day), but since today is my actual due date, I thought I’d post a little bit early!  Maybe, and with any lucky, I’m giving birth as you read this. What!! Could be! I’m really hoping so 😉

I am officially totally full term, 40 weeks pregnant.  But it could go over, definitely can’t come early now.  At this point, this little bean is about the size of a pikachu!! I’ve been waiting weeks to say that haha He’s been moving a lot still, definitely running out of room in there.  I’m really excited to see the little feet that keep kicking me.  <3

I feel pretty ready to be done!  But, in the very least, I’m hoping I don’t go over too much… but it’s not really up to me.  I’m as ready as I can be, but it all depends on how ready he is! We’ll just have to see how the next few days go.. but your continued thoughts and prayers are so very appreciated! And wish me luck <3

5 weeks to go.. give or take 😉

The baby is currently the size of a one gallon jug of milk, or a baseball glove! He’s getting super big in there, and he’s moving a lot.  It sometimes seems as though he is trying to get out already, but really he’s just running out of space (or womb… lolol get it?? :p )  Apparently, my uterus is 1000x it’s normal size, which seems like a really big number.

I’ve been feeling pretty good!  Not quite ready, but getting there.  I am still having difficulty staying asleep.  Last night, I was up like 4 or 5 times to use the bathroom.  It’s so not fun, but apparently it’s to get my body used to waking up frequently once the baby comes.  Who knows if that’s actually accurate though.  Overall, I just feel so large! Especially when you compare my belly now, to how big I was at 35 weeks last time (picture below).  I am SO much bigger this time!  Probably due to a combination of it being my second pregnancy, and the fact that it’s a different pregnancy in general.  I just am really feeling pretty giant.  Although, it seems to be all in my belly.  I’m still able to wear a lot of my pre-pregnancy pants and leggings, without being very uncomfortable, so I can’t complain about that.

My rings are still on my left hand, but my claddah ring doesn’t fit anymore on my right, which is pretty normal for how my pregnancies go.  No stretch marks, and my belly button is still an innie!  This week, we’re going for a tour at the birthing centre, and I’m pretty excited for it.  I’m also pretty excited for my husband getting the chance to meet my midwife.  It’ll be an exciting appointment!

Winnipeg is really funny! It’s as if we forget that there is snow in April every. single. year. and then when it happens in the current year, we all complain about it.  We make jokes about global warming being fake.  We cry that it’s supposed to be April and we don’t wear our winter jackets anymore out of spite.  I am only personally doing some of these things.  It’s April, I do not want to wear winter boots and a parka anymore.  Not that I can do it up anyway 😉  But seriously, it’s as though we forget where we are.  Though, we won’t ever forget that we love love love to complain!  No matter how much snow is on the ground, it’s always the worst somehow.

On the bright side, at least I got to take some nice outfit photos in the snow! I had kind of wanted to do that all winter, but it was WAY too cold to go outside.  Now that it’s spring, it’s snowing nicely and it’s not really all that cold.

What’s the weather like where you are?

Bump Update: Week 33

dress: Dress 911 // cardigan: thrifted // socks: American Apparel // shoes: thrifted //

33 weeks down, 7 to go!  It’s going way too fast, so if I could have a couple extra days added to each week, that would be lovely.  Just thinking maybe a day between Saturday and Sunday, so then the three of us can have some family time?  Sounds good to me!

The little guy in there is about the size of a ferret or a junior tennis racket!  Apparently, his bones are hardening and he’s now able to keep his eyes open when he’s awake.  This week there are some major brain developments going on, so I should probably eat lots of chocolate to help him out with that 😉  He’s kicking lots and lots and lots, and I’m at the stage where I can make out little feet when he kicks my side.  Just like his sister, he likes to kick on both sides of my stomach at the same time, and he’s starting to get hiccups more and more.  As I type this, it feels kind of like he thinks he’s riding a bike in there haha So much movement!

I’ve been feeling ok, for the most part.  Tired, because I keep waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or roll over, and it takes a lot to do anything so I need to sit down and rest often.  I am definitely bigger now than I was at this point last pregnancy, but I still don’t have any stretch marks and I’m still wearing my rings!  Though I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to do that for.  I generally just FEEL large.

We’re well on the way to get the nursery done, though, which is great.. and I’m working on a bunch of things I’d like to get done in the month of April to prepare the house for the baby.  Hoping all that gets done!

Hope you’re having a good week <3

Bump Update: Week 28

bump style, maternity, baby bump, week 28

28 weeks down, 12 to go! Officially in the third trimester 🙂

This weekend was busy and I’m still recovering from a cold that I managed to pick up at some point over it.  Lovely weekend otherwise though!  And I just have to say, I feel like I’m failing a little bit as a fashion blogger, but to quote Regina George (leggings) “are all that fits me now!” I need to work on getting some more maternity clothes 😉

My little guy! He is currently about the size of Mr. Burns’ teddy bear, Bobo!  Or, if you’re totally unsure of how big that is, he’s about the size of an egglplant.  He’s starting to get more fat in there, so his skin is smoothing out.  I had my most recent midwife appointment yesterday, and according to her he is right on schedule with growth!  Apparently his lungs are mature enough to be able to use them on the outside if he had to, but please don’t have to little one! Stay in there!!  He’s giving me lots of kicks and jabs to remind me that he’s there, as if I could forget.

I’m feeling pretty good, aside from the cold this weekend.  And aside from the fact that the tossing and turning has started to become a problem. Well, more of a problem.  I feel like I have to actually get up to roll over and I miss sleeping on my stomach SO MUCH more than I thought I would, especially considering that I’ve done this before.  I don’t think I missed it this much the first time!  My innie belly button is still an innie, and my rings are still on, so I consider that a win anyway!

If there’s anything else you’d like to know about this crazy little ride called pregnancy, feel free to ask at any time! <3

Hope your week is going well

I cannot tell you how excited I am about this sling.  We have a Boba stretchy wrap, which had been great for baby wearing for the longest time… but now that Autumn is getting bigger, it was time for something different.  I had been following the Sakura Bloom instagram account for a while now.  Every time they post something, I would look at how beautiful the fabric is, and how great it looked, and want one so bad.  I have been thinking about it for months.  I have been putting aside money for just as long, and I was finally able to purchase one!!  I LOVE it!  It’s so easy to adjust, which is different than the wrap style carrier.  It also takes up a lot less space than the wrap.  Plus, Autumn seems to like chilling out in there, and snuggling up to me in it.  It’s so great!

A few Saturday’s ago, I heard about a vintage market going on, which was the perfect place to wear this sling!  It was the Wildwoodrose Vintage Market, and it was so much fun!  A lot of really neat and interesting things, but I didn’t end up coming home with anything.  After we were there for maybe 20 minutes to a half hour, the sky just opened up and started POURING on us!  It got nicer after that, but it had mixed weather for an outdoor market.  I’m looking forward to the next one 😉

Getting dressed is a little bit more complicated now.  I can’t just put something on because it’s cute, or I like it, I also have to think about if I am able to breastfeed in it.  That makes getting dressed in the morning (or whenever) a little more fun!  I have my closet divided into three sections, which helps a lot.  I’m not constantly staring at clothes that I can’t wear right now because I wouldn’t be able to breastfeed in them.  At the moment, I have my dresses section, my shirts/tops section, and my “I can’t breastfeed in this”/”this doesn’t fit me right now” section.  Luckily, the last section is behind the door, so I don’t even have to look at it if I don’t want to.

It also means that when I get to go out in the evening, and leave my baby with my husband, it’s a little bit more exciting.  I get to wear a bra that DOESN’T snap down!! I get to wear dresses that have tops that AREN’T stretchy, and higher collars!  I can wear things that don’t have buttons up the top!  It’s almost sad how excited I get about this, but it is really exciting.

Most days, though, I’m living in a variation of this outfit.  These shorts! I love them.  Then a tank top of some kind, since it’s so hot out these days.  It’s a pretty great summer outfit though.  And I can breastfeed in it 😉

graduation

I graduate from University tomorrow.

This graduation is pretty important.  When I was in high school, I would try pretty hard, and it still seemed like it was up in the air whether or not I would actually graduate.  It’s been 13 years since I graduated high school, though, so I have definitely come a long way from where I was at 17 years old.

As I graduate university, I can look back over the last four (and a half) years and see how different university was than high school.  I was older, obviously, I also cared a little bit more, and the majority of the classes I took were actually relevant to what I want to do.  And now, I’m so much closer to being able to do it.

The last four years have gone by super fast, and I didn’t even really get to say goodbye to my university life or give it time to process because I was swept up so quickly into motherhood.  I love where I am now, but it’s going to be so much fun to walk the stage tomorrow afternoon with all of my classmates.

And, there’s a huge difference in the way I graduated in high school and the way I graduated in university.  In high school, it was tough and I was closer than I’d like to admit to not graduating.  Now, as I graduate university tomorrow, I’m leaving with a much stronger B gpa, and I’m so proud of everything I accomplished in my time there.

Game of Thrones Couples Costume Game of Thrones couples costume

As soon as we found out we were pregnant, and that we were due at the beginning of November, we’ve been trying to think of a really good Halloween costume to wear to our friends Halloween themed wedding social.  We went through and vetoed ideas like cheerleader/coach, Juno/Paulie, nun/priest(??), or even housewife/milk man.  We thought that if we could find a lot of examples of these on Pinterest, that means they are probably overdone.  We wanted something more original than that!!

So when I was reading Game of Thrones and got to the part where Daenarys was eating the stallion heart to ensure the birth of a boy, I suggested the idea to my husband and he was all over it!  On the show, she was a lot less pregnant than I am now, but I figured that the idea would still come across.

I already had this dress, and since it was so short due to my belly, I wore a pair of brown leggings underneath.  I found the metal necklace at H&M, and I bought the fake blood at the dollar store.  I was lucky in that I already had a little heart shaped purse that I could use as my stallion heart prop.  It was fun to be able to carry it around 🙂

For Khal Drogo, I bought a pair of brown pants from the thrift store, and Andrew cut them up.  He already had the belts, and we used the blue paint from his Tobias costume to make the markings on his chest.  We seem to pick costumes that don’t require him to have a shirt pretty often, so he was totally ok with that.  He put some shoe polish in his beard to make it darker, and (later) put some eyeliner on.  I took some bells and braided them into a wig that I found at Wal-Mart and then braided the whole thing together (many bells = many victories).

The social was really fun, and I’m glad we were able to dress up like characters from my husband’s favourite book series this year.  I’m really excited to see what kind of costumes we can come up with next year, when we have a one year old!!

What are you dressing up as for Halloween?

Happy Halloween!!

Alysa
