An Up inspired First Birthday

In true Alysalovely style, I am FINALLY sharing my son’s first birthday photos about three months after his first birthday.  Oops, I did it again!  At least it’s a trend and I’m not treating him any better or worse than my daughter, right?  Her first birthday post is here!

For Aiden, we put together an UP themed birthday party!  It is such a great movie, and it was so much fun to dream up all the things we put together for the party.  I am also excited to share it with you now!

In addition to all the actual helium balloons, I came up with a little game for the kids to play.  I cut out a bunch of construction paper balloons and taped them to the wall all over the main floor.  Kids could go around and count all the balloons, and if they got the answer right they won a prize! No one got it right haha they missed a few 😉

In the middle of putting helium in all the balloons.  That was such a fun thing to do.

In honour of Ellie, I painted a copy of the up house at the top of Paradise Falls.  I love how it turned out and it is still up in our living room now.  I also made him a chalkboard style poster with his stats, such as how many teeth he had at the time, and how much he weighed, and words he can say.  I find it really fun for guests to be able to see all that in one spot.

Aiden’s special cupcakes!  I found this edible paper at Michael’s, and I cut them into balloon shapes.  And I put the little paper UP house at the bottom.  I love the way it looked so much

His first cupcake! He loved it 🙂

I made him a little pilot hat for the day, and then totally forgot to put it on him for the entire party haha he was wearing his adorable UP shoes from Lanie’s Closet though <3

I made everyone Ellie Badges that we gave out as a party favour, and I had to have the jar for the Paradise Falls fund!

All the adults got Ellie Badges, and all the kids got a soda bottle shaped thing of bubbles!

All of Aiden’s monthly photos <3

I made Aiden a “My Adventure Book” and then had everyone write their wishes for baby on cards to put in the book.  It’ll be so fun for him to read them later in life <3

Some things are not pictured.  I made balloon shaped cookies, we got soda in glass bottles, and we had hot dogs and hamburgers.

Where we got things:
Shoes/1: Lanie’s Closet
Paper Up House: Disney Family
Ellie Badges: My Own Road Blog

Hope you enjoyed seeing the things we put together for Aiden’s UP themed birthday party! It was such a great day and it turned out being a really fun theme.

First Birthday

I know that it’s been 3 months (yikes) since Autumn turned one, but I figured that late was better than never! 😉

The theme we chose for Autumn’s first birthday party was Super Mario Bros, or “1-Up!”  It was a really fun theme, and we could really stick with it with decor and food.  Plus, I really loved Super Mario Brothers growing up, and it was a great excuse to get out the old Nintendo and play some, too!

Here are some of the pictures from Autumn’s first birthday:

First Birthday - Memory Wall

Since I had been taking monthly pictures of Autumn, I decided to put them all up side by side in a memory wall of her first year!  I really liked the way it turned out, and I love that everyone was able to see how much she grew over her first year.
Then, I made a blackboard inspired infographic on black poster board, which showed a lot of Autumn’s favourite things at one.  Her favourite foods, favourite song, and the words she had said at the time, as well as the skills she had already learned.  It was a nice way of showing people the kinds of things Autumn had been up to lately (at that time).  It was fun to make as well!

1 Up

Here’s Autumn with her 1-up banner!  The two mushrooms were also her invitations.  So everyone who came had received one of those as well.

Green and pink cupcakes (for Luigi and Princess Peach), with the pink one being the very first cupcake that Autumn ever got to eat.

And she loved it! I don’t think there were any crumbs at all.  She ate the entire thing.

For food, we had a veggie and fruit platter, red and green M&M’s (for turtle shells), chips and dip, and other various candies (which I am having a hard time remembering because I never actually ate any of it haha).  We also had Pink Princess Peach Lemonade, and regular lemonade, and the lovely pink and green cupcakes.

It was such a great day, and we felt super blessed by those who were able to be there with us to celebrate our little girl <3

what to wear in fall

This last weekend was crazy! Crazy awesome!  It was my daughter’s first birthday, and along with it came her first birthday party.  It was so much fun to be able to get everyone in our house to celebrate one year of Autumn!  While it was a little overwhelming at times, it was also so great to be able to see everyone who was there for us in a major way during Autumn’s first year all together in one room.  I had a great time, I just wish I had been able to talk more with a bunch of people.

The last few weeks were all about getting ready for the birthday party, and I’m glad that it went so well!  One of my favourite parts was that my sister, who lives out of town, was able to be here for it.  It was so special for Autumn to have her Ciocia at her birthday party.

But what’s next?  Christmas of course!  I need to clean up my studio and un-first-birthday-afy everything, and get ready to bring Christmas to the house!  One of my goals I shared from last week was to get my Christmas shopping done this month, and I think I have a pretty good start to that.  In the very least, I have ideas of what I want to do 😉  That’s a start, right?
