where the heck did March go though? I feel like it just started yesterday. Boom! It’s basically April.  We’ve been so busy around here, I haven’t had time to think, much less write anything.  I’m trying to get back into the swing of things, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day.  Between taking care of babies, and making bonnets, and … let’s be real .. relaxing, it goes by so quickly and then all of a sudden it’s midnight and I’m exhausted.

I am finding myself in a little bit of a slump, clothing wise.  I feel like this is basically what I wear day in and day out.  It works really well for me.  It’s comfortable enough to sit on the floor in when I want to play with my kids, and it’s flexible enough to nurse in, or wear out.  But it gets boring to wear the same thing all the time.  I need more structured pants.  I love my leggings (which ARE pants, btw), but sometimes I feel more put together if my pants also have a zipper.  Anyone else feel this way?

Bump Update: 40 weeks!!

40 weeks pregnant // alysalovely 40 weeks pregnant // alysalovely 40 weeks pregnant // alysalovely

I usually post my bump day update on Wednesday (because it’s hump day/bump day), but since today is my actual due date, I thought I’d post a little bit early!  Maybe, and with any lucky, I’m giving birth as you read this. What!! Could be! I’m really hoping so 😉

I am officially totally full term, 40 weeks pregnant.  But it could go over, definitely can’t come early now.  At this point, this little bean is about the size of a pikachu!! I’ve been waiting weeks to say that haha He’s been moving a lot still, definitely running out of room in there.  I’m really excited to see the little feet that keep kicking me.  <3

I feel pretty ready to be done!  But, in the very least, I’m hoping I don’t go over too much… but it’s not really up to me.  I’m as ready as I can be, but it all depends on how ready he is! We’ll just have to see how the next few days go.. but your continued thoughts and prayers are so very appreciated! And wish me luck <3

Bump Update: Week 29

29 weeks down, 11 to go. Seriously, this pregnancy is going by way too fast.

This past week, I did the dreaded gestational diabetes test.  I passed the test, but found out that once again I have low iron.  So I’ve picked up a supplement to get started on, as apparently if my iron is too low, it means I can’t give birth at the birth centre.  (Which makes sense, if I lose too much blood that’s a huge complication I don’t want!)  I realized that a lot of my shirts are not long enough anymore, and so I’ve started wearing short dresses with leggings instead.  I also feel like I’m running out of clothes!  I have so many clothes in my closet, but I can’t wear the things I wore in my last pregnancy because most are not breastfeeding friendly.  I can’t wear other things because they just don’t fit!  I think that this has a lot to do with the different seasons I’m pregnant in.  Last time I was mostly pregnant in the summer, this time I’m mostly pregnant in the winter.  I can’t really just throw on a maxi dress and go, because it’s been too cold for that.    I lived in maxi dresses for my last pregnancy.  This time, I’m living in leggings haha

Little boy in there is about the size of a deflated basketball, or an acorn squash.  He’s starting to really plump up in there right now.  He’s moving around a lot, and probably running out of space.  I’ve been feeling lots and lots of kicks and jabs.. and he’s even doing that fun thing Autumn did where I get kicked/elbowed/something in two places at once.  So he’s definitely not got a lot of room left.  There’s still a while to go though, so he’ll have to get used to it.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the nursery and how I want to set it up, so it’ll be almost time for me to kick Andrew out of his office so I can get started on that.  It’s pretty exciting and I really can’t wait to get started!!

27 Weeks down, 13 to go.  Going fast.  Been feeling pretty good still, aside from the pretty usual tired.  But then, I’m not really sure if it’s because of the fun that is pregnancy, or the fun that is waking up with my one year old in the night.  She doesn’t do it every night, not even most nights, but it certainly makes an impact.  Of course, it probably also doesn’t help that we tend to stay up later than we probably should so we can get more things done in the evening.  I read a meme once that said parents cram all of their adult life into the time between your child’s bedtime and your bedtime, and I think that’s pretty true!  At least it is for us. 😉

Right now, this little chicken nugget is about the size of a camping lantern or a work glove! He’s getting bigger every day, and reminding me all the time that he’s there.  He’s moving around quite a bit.  He’s learning how to breathe, and is doing that a lot right now.  Also, there is brain activity starting this week!

I’ve got some of the fun pregnancy side effects, but I’m not going to bore you (or gross you out) with which ones.  It would be around now that my hair might get thicker or something, so I’m crossing my fingers for that one!!  This is my last week in the second trimester though, and I’ll be in the third one soon. Which seems like the end of this is so much closer than it is!!

Alysa

Does anyone really like going to the dentist?  No really.  People who have perfect teeth, do you like going to the dentist?  I have pretty bad teeth (I just had a cling-on baby who wouldn’t be put down for almost four months, so I kind of had other priorities haha), and so of course I dislike going to see the dentist.

This last visit was particularly bad.  I’m 30 years old.  I’ve been to the dentist before, once or twice.  But, this hygienist was absolutely terrible!  Super condescending and rude the whole time.  She kept telling me “this isn’t fun”… I know that. I’m a grown up.  I can handle it not being “fun” haha.

Then, when she was done, she was all apologetic because she didn’t have a pink toothbrush for me to take home.  Look, I don’t need a special colour of toothbrush to make brushing my teeth more fun, ok?  It doesn’t matter to me what colour of toothbrush I use, it’s really all the same to me. :p

I think that next time, I will ask for a different hygienist 😉
Oh, on a side note: Did you know that getting fluoride is OPTIONAL? I always thought it was mandatory, because when I was a kid I would always get it.  Turns out, it’s optional, and it costs extra.  Who knew?!

It’s always something with a new baby, isn’t it?  Two Fridays ago, I found myself sitting on my dining room table, breastfeeding my baby.

It started about a week before. I was sitting in our tv room, minding my own business, feeding Autumn and watching Sex and the City when all of a sudden … a mouse, crawls into the room like it owns the place!  So I scream, it runs under the couch and I run from the room.  That room now belongs to the mouse, and I clearly have no right to it.  Later that evening, my husband dealt with the mouse and we thought that the problem was over with.

Fast forward to the next Friday, and pretty much the same thing happened.. only, we don’t have the traps anymore.  So, my husband blocks the mouse in a room, and promises to bring some traps home when he comes.  I think that the mouse is going to stay put in the room, and go about with my business.. which on that Friday meant hanging out with my super sweet future sister-in-law.

So later on, I was about to go upstairs to change Autumn’s diaper when I see the mouse CLIMBING DOWN THE STAIRS! Did you know that mice can do stairs? I did not think that they COULD do stairs!! I always assumed they only got around in the walls, not by taking the stairs! So I FREAKED out and ran back downstairs.

My sister-in-law and I managed to get the mouse hiding behind some picture frames in the living room, and that is when I called my husband to come take care of it.  After some running around, and me nursing my baby from the top of the dining room table, Andrew finally took care of it!! And we’ve been mice free ever since 🙂

What would you do if you found a mouse in your house?

My last maternity outfit!

fall maternity style

These pictures were taken two days before Autumn was born, and the last official outfit photos that I’ve taken in a while.  It’s been pretty hectic around here lately (duh) and there are many days where I pretty much stay in my pajamas.  Otherwise, I’ve been living in leggings.
I’m looking forward to a time where I can get dressed every day, and then I can start sharing the pictures again.
I have about two weeks left in school. I have one more paper to finish writing and then two final exams and then I’m done with school forever! I’m so excited to be done. Then I can focus on Christmas and this precious little angel! This year is ending in a way that is hectic but I’m loving it. This girl gives me so much joy, even when I’m up all night with her.

Xoxo,
Alysa

I have about two weeks or so (maybe more, maybe less).  It’s tough to think about how much is going to change in the next two weeks.  No matter how much you prepare, and how much you plan, you never know who you’re going to get in that brand new baby.  Will they sleep? Will they have colic? Will they be calm? There is literally no way of knowing.  People keep asking me questions about it, too. About what I’m going to be doing after.  I can’t answer that!  I have no idea how much help I’ll need or what I’ll be able to do with the baby here.  Will I be able to complete everything I need to complete? I sure hope so!

In two weeks, everything is different, and I’m not quite sure how to be ready for it.
