I was so excited when I was contacted by eShakti to review one of their beautiful dresses on my blog.  The entire experiences was really fun.  There were a lot of dresses to choose from, and it was difficult to make a decision.  Plus, it’s really cool how easy it is to customize each dress and make it your own.  I chose this dress because it reminded me of a Frozen/Belle crossover.  It’s not a colour that I normally wear, but I love how bright and vibrant it is.

When it came to customizing the dress, there were quite a few options, and again, I had a lot of fun choosing what to customize.  You could add pockets, change the hemline, change the collar, or change the sleeves.  It was so easy to make the specific customizations according to my style.  And, I really like how with eShakti, it’s not about a specific numbered size, and everyone has to fit into what that size is supposed to be.  eShakti is based on your body, and your personal measurements.  I really liked going through and choosing how I wanted my dress to look.  My dress also arrived very soon after it was shipped, which was amazing.  One of my pet peeves with ordering online is how long it can take, but this took no time at all to come. The quality of the dress is also really good.  I feel like I’ll be able to wear this dress for a really long time.

And great news! You can use the code ‘alysalovely’ to get 10% off your order from eShakti.com!  You can use the code until October 28, 2016, you can add it to other codes and use it as often as you like 😉
You can also check them out on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter <3

I received this dress at no charge in exchange for my honest review, and all the opinions stated here are my own.

Bump Update: Week 36

week 36 bump update // alysalovely week 36 bump update // alysalovely

only 4 weeks to go! Give or take.  It’s crazy to think that in a month or less (or slightly more), I’ll be holding a new baby while I do everything, including trying to keep Autumn happy 😉

It’s been quite the week, too.  I found out the results from when I got my blood tested last week, and it turns out that my iron levels are just fine, it’s just my B-12 levels that are poor.  Which is a little more complicated to deal with than the iron levels.  I had my first B-12 injection yesterday, and so far so good.  I was told I would have pain in the injection arm, but that hasn’t really been an issue.  I’m hoping that it does help, because if I don’t get my hemoglobin up, I can’t deliver at the birth centre.  I would love to deliver at the birth centre!  We had our tour there last week, and it is BEAUTIFUL!  Plus, the labour & delivery room is massive and has anything I could possibly want or need.  So here’s hoping I get to deliver there!!

Little chicken nugget is about the size of a papaya or a power drill!  He’s getting closer to being able to breathe on his own, and his liver and kidneys are in working order.  His skin is getting smooth and soft, too.  His circulation and immune systems are pretty much ready as well.  I’m getting ready to meet this little bundle <3

As you can see in the belly pic above, my wedding rings are officially off (and I’m currently using the most blinging ring I have as a placeholder until they fit again after I give birth).  I had been taking them off at night and then putting them back on in the morning, but it’s been a few days of no rings for me!  Well, no rings, or giant ring 😉  I’ve been waking up in the night pretty often, but that’s normal for me, especially at this stage in the pregnancy… though it would help if my lovely daughter wasn’t be the one waking me up.  I’ve been finding that I’m more tired if she gets up in the night.  Go figure.  At least I can still take naps when she does!  Otherwise, I’ve been feeling pretty good.  Not terrible energy levels and mood!  Excited for this baby to come, but still not quite ready 😉

Hope you’re having a lovely week <3

27 Weeks down, 13 to go.  Going fast.  Been feeling pretty good still, aside from the pretty usual tired.  But then, I’m not really sure if it’s because of the fun that is pregnancy, or the fun that is waking up with my one year old in the night.  She doesn’t do it every night, not even most nights, but it certainly makes an impact.  Of course, it probably also doesn’t help that we tend to stay up later than we probably should so we can get more things done in the evening.  I read a meme once that said parents cram all of their adult life into the time between your child’s bedtime and your bedtime, and I think that’s pretty true!  At least it is for us. 😉

Right now, this little chicken nugget is about the size of a camping lantern or a work glove! He’s getting bigger every day, and reminding me all the time that he’s there.  He’s moving around quite a bit.  He’s learning how to breathe, and is doing that a lot right now.  Also, there is brain activity starting this week!

I’ve got some of the fun pregnancy side effects, but I’m not going to bore you (or gross you out) with which ones.  It would be around now that my hair might get thicker or something, so I’m crossing my fingers for that one!!  This is my last week in the second trimester though, and I’ll be in the third one soon. Which seems like the end of this is so much closer than it is!!

Bump Update: 25 weeks

25 weeks, maternity style, baby bump, 25 weeks, maternity style, baby bump, 25 weeks, maternity style, baby bump, 25 weeks, maternity style, baby bump, 25 weeks, maternity style, baby bump,

25 Weeks down, 15 weeks to go!  Yikes! When I write it like that it seems SO SHORT!  It’s going to totally flash by, too, isn’t it?

This week, my baby is the size of a dragon’s egg, a package of Oreo cookies, or a can of WD-40!  He’s growing lots in there and moving around a lot, too.  Apparently, he now knows which way is up and down.. which would explain all the kicks in newer places.  The other day, I got kicked in two places at once.. so we might have another little gymnast on our hands.  Autumn did the same thing, it was pretty fun!  He’s growing more fat and hair in there, too.

I’ve been feeling pretty good though.  No major complaints here!  No stretch marks, and my belly button is still (sadly) and innie.  I doubt it will ever be an outie though.  That didn’t happen in my first pregnancy either.

I just need to talk about this dress.  I ordered in the last Stylish Surprise that Modcloth did last month, and this was the dress I got.  It is just PERFECT!  I can wear it now and not stretch it out, AND it’s also great for breastfeeding.  I kind of expected that I would receive something I couldn’t wear for a while, so I was very happy to receive something that I actually can!  I love the colour, too.

Hope you’re having a great week!

xoxo,
Alysa

Bump Update: Week 23

baby bump, mama style, maternity

23 weeks in!  That’s 17ish weeks to go!

As of right now, the baby is the size of a fertility idol or a grapefruit.  Apparently, he’s forming nipples this week.  His face is fully formed, he just needs to get a little more plump, just a little cuter.  At this point in time, he can hear our voices.  So I’d like to start singing to him and stuff, so he knows my voice.

For me, I had been experiencing some round ligament pain… but since I got a super cute water cup, I’ve been drinking more water, and that has helped cut down on the soreness.  My midwife had told me that water is even more important in winter pregnancies than in summer ones because of how dry it gets in the winter with the heating on in houses.  So, I’ve been drinking more water.. and I definitely feel better!

Otherwise, this little one is super active in there.  Lots of kicking!  It’s especially fun for me when I’m nursing Autumn and he starts kicking.  I can’t wait for these two to meet each other.

Alysa

How far along?
36 weeks!

Baby Size:
About the size of a head of romaine lettuce! (approx 18 inches or so)

Maternity clothes?
yes! My lovely belly band pants 🙂

Stretch marks?
Nope

Sleep:
I am tired ALL THE TIME, and doing the smallest things exhausts me.  If it were about not sleeping at night, I could do things at that time.. but it’s just that I’m not having quality sleep at night.

Best moment this week:
Our prenatal class! It was really interesting.

Miss anything?
I can’t start things that start after 9pm anymore.  I’m just too tired!

Movement:
Mostly big kicks to the side and to the ribs.

Labor signs:
Got some signs of Braxton Hicks.. but the early kind that I can still talk and do things through

Belly button in or out?
Still in, but it’s definitely more shallow than it used to be!

Wedding rings on or off?
Off 🙁 I had been taking them off at night and putting them back on in the morning.  On Sunday, I couldn’t get them back on easily so I figured that it’s better to leave them off now.

Happy or moody most of the time:
Pretty happy!

Looking forward to:
I am ready to be done school.  I am having a difficult time keeping up.. I haven’t fallen behind.. but there are definitely days where it’s more difficult to actually do anything.  Ready to be done foreverrrrrrr!

Next week I’ll be term.  This baby is coming quickkkkkk!!

Alysa

Alysa + honeydew

Maternity clothes?
I have one pair of pants with the belly band and they are great!

Stretch marks?
None

Sleep:
Pretty terrible. I sleep better in the mornings than I do at night.

Best moment this week:
Seeing my friend do stand up comedy in a showcase. I love being able to support her in something she loves, and is so great at.  Especially since I’ll probably miss a lot of her shows once the baby comes.

Miss anything?
Walking quickly. It is SO uncomfortable!! So much pressure.

Movement:
Lots of little elbows, knees and feet.  Lots of hiccups. Still all good!!

Food cravings:
Nothing new this week

Belly button in or out?
In

Wedding rings on or off?
Mostly on, but I’ve started taking them off at night just in case.

Happy or moody most of the time:
Pretty happy! Unless I haven’t slept.

Looking forward to:
Our first prenatal class is this Sunday! I’m pretty excited for that.  It’ll be nice to hear more about what exactly will happen once I go into labour.  Or what could happen, anyway.  We are taking our classes at Nest Family Centre, and the woman who does it works at the hospital we’re delivering at.  It’ll be great to hear from someone who is knowledgeable about our specific hospital.

What to wear to a prenatal appointment

fall maternity style

shirt: thrifted // leggings: Wet Seal // flats: Target // necklace: gift // bracelet: gift // hairband: F21

fall maternity style fall maternity style fall baby bump style

As the pregnancy goes on, I get to have more and more prenatal doctor’s appointments!  At first, it was once a month, then it became every other week (like it is now) and very soon it will be every week, just counting down the weeks until this baby is ready to join us.

An outfit like this makes going to the doctors office for these appointments very easy, plus I can still look pretty cute!  I wear leggings because they always get my weight, and while I am not really paying attention to my weight, I don’t know want my clothing to affect what it says.  I find wearing leggings doesn’t add to it.  I also wear flats because I can’t wear shoes when I step on the scale, and flats slip on and off super easy.

I also wear leggings (and a flowy top) because at each appointment, I get to hear the heartbeat.  I lie on the table, and the doctor finds the heartbeat!  Wearing leggings and a looser top means that it’s easy to simply get on the table and lift my shift for the heartbeat check.  I don’t have to fuss with clothing, and I don’t have to remove anything or change into one of those weird paper gowns they have.  It’s nice!

This might change soon, as my appointments become weekly instead of every other week, but for now, this type of outfit really works for the appointments!

What do you like to wear to doctors appointments?

Alysa
