Ah, in 2 months my little one will be ONE! That seems too fast. Not fair.
Anyway, this month Aiden has done a lot of new things!! He’s crawling everywhere, and he’s getting much much faster at it, too. He loves to chase after his sister, even if it takes him a while to get there (running is always faster than crawling haha). He has said a lot of words, such as read and duck! He loves to eat, and his favourite foods are meat, potatoes, and whatever his sister is eating. He’s been eating lots of muffins for breakfast lately because Cheerios are not as good, and not what Autumn is having. 😉
He’s in size 9-12 month/12 -18 month stuff, depending on the brand. It’s weird for me, especially considering how much longer it took Autumn to get to those sizes. But he’s outgrowing all the smaller things!
Aiden still only has two teeth, but he’s definitely working on more right now. For the most part, he sleeps from around 8:00pm to around 8:00am, but sometimes he wakes up for middle of the night cuddles, which I am more than happy to give.
His favourite toys are his Fisher Price blocks, a monkey in a barrel toy we have, and cars. He LOVES looking at books, and flipping pages on books. His current favourite is Baby, Baby (which I reviewed here). He loves looking at himself in the mirror, he loves brushing his own teeth, and he absolutely loves playing with his big sister.
Autumn at 10 months <3
Oh goodness, Aiden is already 9 months old. I have basically already started planning his first birthday party, and that seems so surreal to me. Especially when I look at my time hop from last year. He’s been such an awesome addition to our little family, and I’ve loved seeing how he just fits in with everything.
This past month has been SO busy for him. Aiden is now crawling. He’s got TWO teeth. He’s said a few more words, and he’s gotten to be very chatty. He’s also very handsy. He loves grabbing at peoples faces, and hair, and all that fun stuff.
Aiden eats a LOT. He loves food. He gets very angry with me if I don’t give him his next bite fast enough. He especially loves Owlies, chicken, and bread! He could eat a whole bun, and then go on to eat more of other things. He still wants whatever it is that his sister has. So, if I try to give him a different food for breakfast than what she is eating… that’s a problem 😉 It’s cute.
Aiden is moving around a LOT! He wants to explore everything. If he’s playing with toys in one room and we go to the next room, he wants to follow us. If he’s in the kitchen with me as I cook dinner, he wants to be right at my feet and touching me. He’s a sweetheart.
This month, Aiden has started sleeping through the night! He’s doing it more and more often, but every now and then he’ll wake in the middle of the night. He’s also napping really well in his crib during afternoon nap time. We’re still working on his morning nap though.
So looking forward to seeing what he’ll do next <3
Autumn at 9 months old
Aiden is now 8 months old!! In such a short amount of time, we’ll be celebrating his 1st birthday (cue mama tears). It’s going by WAY too fast and I just can’t believe it.
This month, Aiden has done so much! He said mama and dada (dada first, of course haha) and he said his first word: POOP! He’s not crawling, but he spins in circles and backs up really well. He loves reaching for your face and reaching for toys. He loves watching his sister play.
Aiden’s current favourite foods are anything Autumn is eating, and lucky for him, she likes to share her food with him.. whether she should or not. Specific foods he likes are chicken, sweet potato, and the baby cookies I make. He HATES salmon, and he has mixed feelings about broccoli.
Aiden’s favourite toys are his o-ball car, and his little people toys. He likes looking at and waving to himself in the mirror. He likes waving at everyone!
He’s overall such a happy little baby, I love watching him grow <3
Autumn at 8 months
December just zipped by, and this baby is now 7 months old!
He’s growing so fast, too. He’s outgrowing a lot of his 6 month stuff, and getting into the 9 month sizes and the 6-12 month stuff.
Aiden loves to eat! He’s even started to get jealous when he sees that Autumn gets to have something and he doesn’t have anything. We usually give him breakfast and dinner of solid foods, but now he’s starting to ask for something to eat at lunch time, too. He likes pretty much everything we give him. He had a really funny reaction to broccoli, but still ate it! The only thing we’ve given him that he wasn’t fond of was a certain spaghetti sauce, but it was a little spicy.
Aiden’s favourite toys are his Star Wars tsum tsums, and anything with wheels. He really likes to pick things up and drop them, or get me to pick them up and then he drops them. He’s not quite crawling, but he’s managing to maneuver himself around somehow. I’ll put him down and when I come back in the room he’s in a different spot than where I left him.
Aiden is still waking up a couple of times a night. He’s a really good cuddler, and he loves nuzzling into our shoulders. He’s pretty laid back, he likes people watching, and he especially likes watching his big sister. She is very interesting. He doesn’t like being left alone for too long though. He’d rather be where the people are.
So excited to see what the next month is going to bring <3
Autumn at 7 months
Aiden is 6 months old, aka 1/2 of a year old! I made Autumn a 1/2 year birthday crown when she was 6 months old, so I did the same for Aiden, too!
Aiden is such a sweetheart. He loves cuddling, he loves being held, and he loves hugging his sister (/being squashed by her). His little personality is certainly starting to shine through. He has a LOT to say, and he likes to say it LOUD. He loves to try to eat my hair, and he loves giving kisses. He is really bouncy and energetic. He’s also really observant. He likes to be able to see what is going on all the time. It’s hard for him to sleep if there is something else going on.
We have started baby-led weaning with him, and he is really into eating. His current favourites are sweet potatoes, chicken, and grandpa’s meatloaf. If we’re eating anything, he wants to be eating it, too.
He loves playing with his sister. His favourite toys are anything that rattles or squeaks! He loves his Sophie Giraffe.
We’re especially excited to be able to celebrate Christmas with him this year.
Autumn at 6 months old <3
So… a few weeks ago… Aiden turned 5 months old! (But then Halloween happened, and Autumn’s birthday, and this post got put on the back burner, so to speak haha)
Aiden is growing so much! He’s mostly in 6 month stuff, but in some 6-9 and some 6-12, depending on the brand. He’s constantly on the move and he is so strong. If we’re holding him, he wants to be upright, and he wants to be standing (with help). He’s always kicking and always moving something. Aiden has gotten to be VERY grabby. He loves to grab at toys, books, coffee mugs, my hair, ANYTHING in front of him. He has a very strong grip, too.
His favourite thing is to watch his sister.. he’s started grabbing at her, too. He loves to listen to her talk to him, and he loves to watch her play. He’s not yet crawling, but he’s moving so much that I have a feeling it will be soon that he’ll start trying. His favourite toy is the Happy Driver toy (which is a steering wheel and dashboard), and he loves being held.
Aiden is still sleeping about 95% of the night in his crib, which is great. He had a bit of a rough patch or a sleep regression, but seems to be back to sleeping normally. We have our lovely bedtime routine, and it’s really working for all of us. Aiden celebrated his first Halloween and went as Pugsley Addams!
My little gentleman is 4 months old!
It’s crazy how fast time is going by. He’s growing so much and learning so much every day. He’s currently sleeping most of the night in the crib. He wakes up a few times in the night for cuddles and to eat. He knows how to roll from his back to his stomach and back again, which has made for some scary little moments when he’s tried to roll off the bed. He’s very strong and loves kicking.
Aiden’s favourite song is Rainbow Connection. He likes watching his sister do ANYTHING. A new thing that he’s doing is, if he’s fine but he sees Autumn getting upset, he starts getting upset, too. It’s like he sees that she is upset and thinks “Oh, is this what we’re doing now?” and gets upset with her. Even if he was previously totally happy. It’s very cute.
He’s currently in sizes 3-6, as well as 6 months and 9 months clothes, depending on the brand. He’s the sweetest little guy. He loves to laugh, he loves to grab at toys and my hair. He loves to be held. Aiden’s favourite toys are Captain Calamari, and any toy that is colourful and makes noise. He also loves to suck/chew on his wrist or my wrist.
Can’t wait to see what the next month has in store for us <3
Autumn at 4 months old
Aiden is now three months old! Which means that he is officially not a newborn anymore 🙁
He’s growing lots and lots. He’s grown out of all of his 0-3 month sized clothes and is fitting in his 3-6 and 6 month sizes. I’m not sure exactly how long he is, but he seems to be really long! Granted, he was long at birth, too.
He has really good head control, and he’s starting to want to sit up on his own. He likes looking around and seeing everyone who is there. He likes playing peek-a-boo, and he likes when I rub my nose against his. He LOVES his sister, and is always watching her. When she’s around, he gets some of the biggest smiles.
He is a very good sleeper. After Autumn and I wake up in the morning, he usually stays in bed and can sleep there for another couple of hours on his own. He also does that at naps. His longest stretch is 6 hours in a row at night.
Aiden fits in very well with our little family! <3
Aiden turned 2 months old at the end of July, and in true second child tradition, I’m taking my sweet time posting this. I did take the pictures right on the day, so at least there’s that, right?
Aiden is such a happy little baby! He loves to smile, and he especially loves to smile at his big sister. She’s usually able to calm him and settle him when he’s starting to get fussy in his swing. She loves him, too, and dotes on him completely.
He’s growing out of his 0-3 month clothes, and he’s started to wear his 3-6 things! He’s growing so much, and it’s so great to watch! Though, of course, at the same time all I can think is that it’s too fast and time needs to slow down. But that’s life. He did great with his first needles at the doctors office. He wasn’t a fan, but who is?
He sleeps between 4-6 hours in a row at night, which is so lovely. It varies day to day. Some nights it’s closer to 4 (or even 3) hours, other nights it’s 6. He keeps us guessing, that’s for sure. Otherwise, he likes to be with his mama. He does NOT like the car seat or car rides, unless the car is going really fast, or turning, or both! He is ok with his swing, but gets bored of it very quickly. Sometimes he’ll sleep in there (like right now as I type haha).
I’m so excited to see what this next month will bring, all the things he’ll learn and who he’s becoming.
It’s World Breastfeeding Week! Last year, I shared my breastfeeding story with Autumn, and a lot has changed since then. So, in honour of it being World Breastfeeding Week, I thought I’d share part two of the story.
After the initial difficulty of breastfeeding Autumn, we went on to nurse for almost 18 months. I always said that I wanted to keep nursing until Autumn decided it was time to stop. She stopped pretty slowly, but it was very clear she was done! I am very happy that we went as long as we did.
Leading up to when Aiden was born, I got kind of nervous that things would go the same way they did with Autumn. It was a huge relief when he took to breastfeeding right away! He latched on at the birth centre a little while after he was born, and knew exactly what to do.
Nursing Aiden has been so great! There hasn’t been any pain or anything and I’m so glad we haven’t had any issues with it. This is the breastfeeding experience that I had been hoping for! He’s growing like a little weed and I just love the time spent and the cuddles I get when I’m feeding him.
I’m also loving how I feel so much more confident this time! When I was breastfeeding Autumn, I would get nervous about feeding her in front of other people but now it’s like its not a big deal. I just do it! I really love that I’m more confident.
Looking forward to seeing how long he’ll want to nurse for!
Happy World Breastfeeding Week!
