Mama’s Christmas Wishlist

This post contains affiliate links. If a purchase is made through the use of one of my recommendations, I may receive a small commission, which would be a lovely little blessing for my family

At Christmas, it’s so easy for moms to think only of what they need to do for others.  I think it’s important for mamas to think of things they need and want at Christmas-time as well.  Someone needs to buy presents for mama, too.  And, if my family is any indicator of others, the only present that daddy needs to buy is for mama anyway, so we may as well make our list very good.

Here are some ideas for things to get the mamas in your life (and mamas, be sure to link this to your husband so they know what to get 😉 )

01 // A Lovely Candle

I LOVE Candles, and this Maple Syrup Candle with a Crackling Wooden Wick
would be so great! The Canadian in me approves!  And this one looks like it would last a really long time, which is so nice.

02 // Bath Bombs

I LOVE Bath Bombs! It’s so relaxing, and so fun when it makes the bathwater pretty colours.  And funny when it leaves a bunch of glitter all over the tub.  Bath bombs are the best and I wish I had this Bath Bombs Gift Set
right now.

03 // Christmas Tea Towels

I’m sure this is more specific to me, but I realized recently that I don’t have any Christmas themed tea towels for the kitchen.  I have Halloween ones, and Fall ones… but not Christmas ones! This is a problem that needs to be rectified. And this Twas the Night Before Christmas Story Kitchen Tea Towel set is too cute!

04 // Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay

How beautiful is this book? I need it to complete my JK Rowling collection.

05 // Coffee!

What every mama of two needs, coffee coffee coffee! Gift cards, beans, anything! 😉 As long as it’s Starbucks Coffee, I’m happy! 😉

What is on your wish list for Christmas this year?

xoxo,
Alysa

My Birthday Wishlist

It’s my birthday today! 🙂  Every year, I write out a little wish list, and usually I do it a few weeks before my birthday, but this year things got away from me.  I kept saying, I’ll think of things next week, next week, next week… until my birthday actually came! Here are some of the things I’m wishing for today:

01 // Rose Gold Teething Necklace from Finity Handmade
rose gold - geometric bead silicone teething necklace
I’ve been following Finity Handmade on Instagram for the longest time, and I’ve loved this particular necklace for a while.  It’s so pretty and shiny and pretty  And I’m getting it.  I ordered my own birthday present last night haha You can get it here!

02 // lace doily coasters from Little Stitches by Brandi Little
lace doily coasters
Isn’t it just like a mom to want COASTERS for her birthday? Well I do! They’re just so pretty <3 You can find them here

03 // Garden Party Tula Toddler Carrier
tula toddler carrier
I’ve been loving on the Tula carriers for a while, and it would be nice to be able to wear my daughter at the same time as my son and this would be perfect.  Plus, look how pretty!! You can find it here

I love Starbucks, and I always want Starbucks gift cards any time of year 😉

Unicorn things I need to own

Unicorns on my wishlist

If we haven’t met or spent significant time together, you might not know that I am secretly Harmony from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  Not in the way that she’s a mindless crowd follower, but in the way that she loves unicorns.  I love unicorns! I have bought several thrift store unicorns, including figurines and pictures for the walls.  I also love glitter and magic and everything that seems to go along with unicorns.  Lately, I’ve been finding some pretty sweet unicorn items, so I thought I’d share them with you here!  I’ve already asked for these things for my birthday … in September 😉

UNICORN RESCUE AND ADOPTION KIT
First of all, how cute is that unicorn?  I am a sucker for anything that says “rescue” or “adoption” and this is no exception.  The reality is that we have way too many stuffed animals and I don’t really “need” this, but how cute?? HOW CUTE??

UNICORN TABLE LAMP IN GOLD
Obviously it needs to be in Gold.  And obviously, I need this on my desk right now.  Unfortunately this is only available in the US, as we don’t have Target stores in Canada anymore (still sad).  It would be beautiful on my desk though <3 and I can definitely say without irony, that I love lamp.

UNICORN LIGHT UP SLIPPERS
I don’t really have slippers, and my feet are constantly cold.  PLUS they light up, and would you look at that pretty gold horn? These are just perfect!

If you see any other nifty unicorn things around, tell me about them in the comments!!
Hope you’re having a lovely week!

xoxo,
Alysa

Valentine’s Gift Guide for a Pregnant Mama

Valentine's Day Gift Guide for Pregnant Mamas

A Lily Jade Purse!
I’ve been drooling over these bags for over a year now, pretty much since Autumn was born or maybe even before that.  I would love to own one, especially now that I have a second on the way.

A prenatal massage
The prenatal massage I got during my first pregnancy was amazing and as this pregnancy goes on, it would be nice to be that relaxed again.

Candy Box
Have you heard of this? It’s a subscription box for CANDY!! Super perfect for me.  The only thing I need to do before getting something like this is for sure passing my gestational diabetes test 😉

Bath Bombs
Bath bombs are practically my best friends right now.  So amazing.  I need more!!  My favourite are the ones from Lush, because they have such a wide variety.

Going to get my hair cut
I just need to be pampered! And my hair could definitely use a trim, and my scalp a massage as well.

I know that most of these are the things I want for Valentine’s Day, but I really think that any pregnant mama would be interested in these things because they’re all about relaxation, and being taken care of and pampered.  What mom wouldn’t want that? 😉

What would you like to receive for Valentine’s Day?

xoxo,
Alysa

Winnipeg Holiday Gift Guide

Winnipeg Holiday Gift Guide

My goal for this Christmas was to buy local.  And I don’t mean anyone who sells anything locally, but local makers & artists, local Winnipeg institutions and shops, and let’s face it, I wanted to go to as many craft sales as possible.  I think that for the most part I have been successful!  Here are a few of my favourite local shops/makers. (and, to the friends and family reading, sorry if this ruins the surprise just a little when you open up something from one of these places come Christmas 😉 )

  1. Coal & Canary

I’ve been following Coal & Canary on Instagram for quite a while now (and coveting their beautiful candles), and I was so happy to be able to pick some up at a recent craft show.  I can’t wait to see my loved ones faces when they open their candles!  These candles are basically selling like hot cakes here in Winnipeg.  EVERYONE wants them.
Check them out on their website: Coal & Canary

  2. Tiny Feast

Tiny Feast is another one of my Instagram faves.  I’m a sucker for stationary, pens, organizers and planners, and this store is pretty much the perfect one for me because these are the things they sell!  Their shop is adorable and right downtown, so it’s super easy to get to.  I could spend all day there, there is so much to look at.  It’s really hard not to just buy everything, though
Check them out on their website: Tiny Feast

  3. McNally Robinson

    So. #Bookmark or #dogear?

A post shared by McNally Robinson Booksellers (@mcnallyrobinson) on

McNally Robinson has been one of my favourite stores since I was a kid.  I love books and reading, and try to get as many of my books from here as possible.  And how can I do Christmas presents without buying books?  Exactly. I can’t!
Check them out on their website: McNally Robinson

  4. Red Lake Coffee Co.

Red Lake Coffee Company is fairly new to Winnipeg, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about them.  They are a give-profit company, so they give their profits to local organizations that help people who are struggling.  Which is especially cool to purchase from at Christmas.  They deliver to the Winnipeg area as well, so I ordered it and it came that Friday! This is a very exciting company and I can’t wait to try their coffee.
Check them out on their website: Red Lake Coffee Co.

  5. Out of the Blue

This has been one of my favourite shops since I was in high school, and I’ve always loved everything they carry there.  Basically, if you need to find something for me for Christmas, if it’s from Out of the Blue, I will love it. 😉
Check them out on their website: Out of the Blue

What Winnipeg shops and makers would you add to this list? What’s your favourite local shop?

Alysa
