Aiden at 18 Months

This little ham is 18 months old!
Shirt: 1214 Designs/Tristalee Creative // shoes: Bird Rock Baby

Aiden turned 18 months old at the end of November, and it’s so fun to see how much he’s grown in the last few months.  He knows so many words.  He loves saying mama, sister, daddy, bear, CARS, ball, and so many more!  He CAN walk, he just chooses not to.  He’d rather be carried or helped.  He likes to walk while holding our hands.  It’s so sweet.

He’s a big cuddle bear. He loves hugs so much, and I love that so it’s pretty perfect.  He likes to read, to follow his sister around, and to touch everything he’s not allowed to be touching!

It’s been so great getting to know this awesome little guy.

You Are My Sunshine – a Yellow themed 3rd Birthday!

This beautiful girl turned three at the beginning of the month, and we decided that 3 was the right age to have a birthday party with her friends.  Though she’s not in preschool, she is in the preschool program at church, so she invited all of her friends from there to come celebrate with us!

She’s starting to get to an age where she has definite interests, and if I had suggested it to her, I’m sure she would have wanted a Moana themed party, but we decided to go in another direction.  My daughter, Autumn, LOVES the colour yellow.  She says her favourite colours are yellow and pink, but any time she gets the choice between something yellow and any other colour, she picks yellow every time.  It was a lot of fun setting up the house in a sunshine yellow colour, and I’m so excited to share some pictures of her party with you!

These were the little party favours that we gave out!  I found the free printable on Fun Squared! Click here to get them, too!

We had all kinds of snacks and goodies.  We held the party in the morning, so coffee for the moms was a necessity! I wanted a bunch of yellow decor without going all around the city looking at different stores and I also didn’t want to pay full price, so I searched “yellow decor” on Facebook Marketplace!  I got a giant box of great decor items for $20.  It was perfect for the party.  The placemats were part of that box!

To start the party, we had all the little ones sit down and colour their own picture!  I got this free printable from Tried and True Blog!  It was so much fun, and I think the kids really liked colouring their super happy sunshine pictures.

I like to post a photo timeline of Autumn from her life.  It’s awesome to see how she grew over the last three years.  (Just, if you do this for your own child’s party, I would advise against putting this up with You’ll Be In My Heart from Tarzan playing in the background 😉 )

We got Autumn’s special birthday balloons from Party Stuff.

The mantle was one of my favourite parts.  All these flowers were in the yellow decor box, and I had so much fun putting them on the mantle there with the candles and the baby’s breath.

Autumn’s dress was from Alysalovely Littles, embroidered by The Bear Necessities.  And her headband is from The Bear Necessities, too.

Aiden was the one little boy at the party, but he had a lot of fun (especially at cake time)

Halloween 2017

I know it’s already a week after Halloween but I thought I’d still share our family costume with you!

This year for Halloween we went as Peter Pan, Wendy, Tinkerbell & Captain Hook!

It was so much fun. Autumn kept calling Aiden Peter Pan all day (as in “come here Peter Pan!”) it was adorable! His costume was from the Disney store, hers we already had, and I made her bun bonnet. My dress is from the thrift store and is J Crew brand and Andrews costume is made up of pieces he already had! It was great bc we didn’t end up spending tons on our costumes.

However, we were all getting through colds (especially Aiden) and so he got to help me give out candy to trick-or-treaters while Andrew and Autumn went out. It was a good Halloween!

Now to start planning for next years costume 😉

The Type A Mom Guide to Painting Rocks with your Toddlers

I’m sure you’ve heard by now, but there’s a new trend sweeping the country (really continent) this summer and fall!  And that is painting rocks!  I’m sure that wherever you are, there is a (your city) rocks group on facebook.  Basically what it is, is people are painting rocks and then they hide them in parks and on streets around their cities and towns.  Then, other people go out and look for them! They share pictures in the groups of where they’ve found things, and where they are rehiding them, or if they are keeping them!  It’s pretty fun, and my kids are LOVING being able to paint on rocks.  And it’s fun watching them have fun… but, the type A part of my self cringes basically the whole time!! So here are a few tips for how to paint rocks with your toddlers as a Type A Mom 😉

  1. Keeping them tidy
As tidy as possible anyway.  I put them in giant t-shirts (well, our old shirts, but giant on them) and then I wrapped them around their feet so they (hopefully) wouldn’t get any paint on their pants/shoes/feet.  It happened anyway, but at least I tried right?

2. Put paint in a container
If you have more than one child, it might be a good idea to give each of them their own paint containers.  Aiden kept dragging theirs over so Autumn couldn’t reach it.  Oops! Next time they will have their own paint.

3. Don’t expect they won’t get messy
No matter how careful I tried to be, they still got paint e v e r y w h e r e!! Especially Aiden.  He tried eating it, he painted his hands, he painted his sister, he painted everything.

4. Let go!
Just let things happen!  Things started to get more fun when I stopped chasing after them trying to get them to NOT paint on each other or on themselves.  It was way more fun for them to just be able to paint freely.

5. Keep them contained or be outside
I know I have my two on a big cardboard box in the backyard, but I think it would have been a better idea if they had been in chairs with Aiden strapped into his high chair.  Keeping them contained and unable to crawl around would have also kept the mess contained!  Since we were outside, it was okay because the grass can totally get painted and it’s fine.  Next time though, we’ll be inside at the table 😉

6. Just don’t do it
haha but for real.  If these photos make you cringe because of the mess, maybe it’s better to just … skip this activity.  Aiden painted his pants, Autumn got paint on her boots, there was paint everywhere I didn’t want it to be.  BUT they had a load of fun, so I guess at the end of the day, that is the part that matters 😉

Have you tried painting rocks with your toddlers yet?  Let me know how it went in the comments!

Cherry Coke

shirt: thrifted // necklace: Mama Gems // skirt: thrifted // shoes: Toms // sunglasses: Joe Fresh // floral crown: my SIL made it for me

Autumn wanted to play, too!
Her outfit: shirt: Old Navy // skirt: hand-me-down // shoes: Lanie’s Closet

bracelets: 1/4: Pandora // 3/4: Thrifted

I never thought I would be a crop top kind of gal, but here we are!  I’ve had this top in my drawer for a really long time before I braved it, and then I put it with this skirt and loved it, so I’ve worn it a bunch of times since then.

Life has been a little fast paced and exciting lately!  I’ve participated in a couple of Farmer’s Markets this summer, and woah! That was a LOT of work haha.  I don’t sell food, so I don’t think I did as well as the people who did sell food, but it was a good experience.  I’ve learned that I don’t want to do farmer’s markets anymore.  Both times I was in direct sunlight all day and came home with a sunburn and mild heat stroke.  Oops! Oh well, live and learn 😉

Otherwise, I’ve been so busy dreaming up ideas for new projects and new things to offer in May Market! Our next sale is coming up on September 1 and 2, and I’m SO excited to share the things we’ll have in it!  It’s all about fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and everything pumpkins!  I am so in love with everything so far.

What’s new in your life?

Alysa

Dress: thrifted // necklace: Finity Handmade on etsy

It’s funny. Slightly more than a year ago, when I had only one child, I would take my outfit pictures when she was napping. Now I have two, and so I barely take outfit pictures ever… but when I get a moment to do so, I have an adorable little one crashing the photos!  I love it.  She wanted to pose the same way I was, it was a lot of fun, and she is an adorable addition to my photos.

I want to talk about this dress for a moment.  I love how classic 90’s it is.  And I especially love the buttons up the back.  Except… they come undone SO easy.  How embarrassing is it when you have just walked across the room and sat down, only to receive a text from your husband that your dress isn’t done up?  Pretty embarrassing!!  But I love the dress so how to prevent wardrobe malfunctions?  Shorts underneath!  I have a lot of bike shorts and they’re perfect for something like this because you can’t tell I’m wearing them, and no one will see my underwear… even if the buttons aren’t holding up.

Autumn picked her own outfit today, too!  She really wanted to wear a dress and was so excited when she saw this one. And it’s so cute, I couldn’t say no!  Plus, you can’t go wrong with matching necklaces, right? 😉

Hope your week is amazing <3

Autumn at 2.5 <3

Earlier this month, my little girl turned 2 and a half!! Aka 30 months old haha.  I’m not one to keep track of months specifically, but it would have been hard to add a little point to 2.5 years haha 😉

Autumn has been growing so much over the last half a year.  She has a LOT to say.  She knows so many words, and says them so sweetly.  Some of them she has the cutest pronunciations.  She still loves reading so much, and always wants to hear stories.

This month she watched her new favourite movie, Moana!  She’s also started potty training (which I will probably write about in more detail soon).

She’s learning so much and I love watching her grow <3
