An Up inspired First Birthday

In true Alysalovely style, I am FINALLY sharing my son’s first birthday photos about three months after his first birthday.  Oops, I did it again!  At least it’s a trend and I’m not treating him any better or worse than my daughter, right?  Her first birthday post is here!

For Aiden, we put together an UP themed birthday party!  It is such a great movie, and it was so much fun to dream up all the things we put together for the party.  I am also excited to share it with you now!

In addition to all the actual helium balloons, I came up with a little game for the kids to play.  I cut out a bunch of construction paper balloons and taped them to the wall all over the main floor.  Kids could go around and count all the balloons, and if they got the answer right they won a prize! No one got it right haha they missed a few 😉

In the middle of putting helium in all the balloons.  That was such a fun thing to do.

In honour of Ellie, I painted a copy of the up house at the top of Paradise Falls.  I love how it turned out and it is still up in our living room now.  I also made him a chalkboard style poster with his stats, such as how many teeth he had at the time, and how much he weighed, and words he can say.  I find it really fun for guests to be able to see all that in one spot.

Aiden’s special cupcakes!  I found this edible paper at Michael’s, and I cut them into balloon shapes.  And I put the little paper UP house at the bottom.  I love the way it looked so much

His first cupcake! He loved it 🙂

I made him a little pilot hat for the day, and then totally forgot to put it on him for the entire party haha he was wearing his adorable UP shoes from Lanie’s Closet though <3

I made everyone Ellie Badges that we gave out as a party favour, and I had to have the jar for the Paradise Falls fund!

All the adults got Ellie Badges, and all the kids got a soda bottle shaped thing of bubbles!

All of Aiden’s monthly photos <3

I made Aiden a “My Adventure Book” and then had everyone write their wishes for baby on cards to put in the book.  It’ll be so fun for him to read them later in life <3

Some things are not pictured.  I made balloon shaped cookies, we got soda in glass bottles, and we had hot dogs and hamburgers.

Where we got things:
Shoes/1: Lanie’s Closet
Paper Up House: Disney Family
Ellie Badges: My Own Road Blog

Hope you enjoyed seeing the things we put together for Aiden’s UP themed birthday party! It was such a great day and it turned out being a really fun theme.

xoxo,
Alysa

Unicorn Love: Events

Hi All! I hope you are ready for more Unicorn items from Etsy, because I can not stop looking at all things unicorn! Today’s post is going to be about parties and events!  I went to a really fun unicorn themed first birthday almost a year ago, and it was such a cute theme.  I love how this theme has gained popularity in recent years, and there are so many great things you can get from etsy to help with your party.

Here are some of them:

01 // Magic Rainbow Unicorn Invitations
Have you seen this unicorn? It is so perfect.  AND this one is printable, so you just download it and you can print it yourself, as many as you need.  So great for if your guest list changes at all haha

02 // Party invitations number 2!
These invitations are SO CUTE y’all! They’ve updated their pics since I grabbed this one for my collage, and are even cuter.  I liked both of these sets so much I couldn’t pick just one.

03 // Unicorn Bag
This bag is so adorable, and what a cute way to either give a gift that matches the theme, or to give little goodie bags at the end of the party.  I just love the little eyelashes, too.

04 // Pom Pom Garland
This would be so adorable at a party and even just to have up as regular decor.  You could add this to a unicorn themed nursery or kids room, or you can have it on your mantle to give your room an extra little bit of sparkle.  This is the kind of party decoration that I would leave up well after the party is over.

05 // Party Favor Printable
This would be another super cute idea for party favors.  If you’re giving something small, you just pop this card on the front and then it works perfectly with your theme.  It’s also a printable, so you can print it up right at home, at your convenience.

06 // Unicorn Hair Accessories
This would be so sweet for an older child’s birthday party favour.  This one is a little bit spendier, but if your child is having his or her closest friends over, you would only have to get a couple.  Or, it could be a really cute bff present for your child and their friend.  So cute <3

07 // Unicorn Favor Bag
Another favor bag, but it’s too cute I couldn’t help it. You could fill this with little candies or something, and it would be a sweet little thank you for coming to the party for your guests.

08 // Magical Unicorn Card
Let’s say you’re attending a unicorn party?  What would be better than a little card that goes with the theme?  This card is so fun, and it would perfectly match any unicorn or magical party you’re invited to.

Who wants to go to a unicorn party now? 😉

Unicorn Love: More for Littles

Who is ready for some more magical UNICORN items? I know I literally always am!  There were so many totally adorable things for kids, that I had to split it into two posts to share everything I love that I found on Etsy.  So, here is the other unicorns for kids post! Enjoy <3

01 //  Unicorn Party Dress by December Baby
How cute is this dress? I wish we had a magical unicorn party to go to so I could get this for my daughter!  I love the fabric, and I love the cut of the dress. It’s so stinkin’ cute!

02 // Pastel Blue Unicorn Necklace
I’m sorry if every single one of these items just say “THIS IS SO CUTE” at the beginning of the description but I’m also NOT sorry because THIS IS SO CUTE!! I would wear this necklace myself, maybe get a matching one for my kid haha… maybe 😉

03 // Unicorn Minky Baby Blanket
Who wants a unicorn themed baby room? Honestly, I’m surprised I didn’t think of that before just now.  I wonder how into that theme my daughter would be for her room… or else, I could just incorporate unicorns into my son’s Harry Potter themed room.  hmm… good idea, or GREAT idea? 😉 ANYWAY, Minky is one of the softest fabric known to man and this blanket would be adorable in any baby room, unicorn themed or not.

04 // Unicorn Counting Clip Cards
This would be so fun for my daughter, seriously. These cards would be a great way to learn how to count for kids, and feature the sweetest little unicorns.  It’s a win win 😉

05 // Large Unicorn Plush with Rainbow Hair
This crocheted stuffy is so sweet.  Again, this would be totally adorable in a unicorn themed room.  Or on any kids (or adults) bed.

06 // Unicorns Flutter Sleeve Shirt
This outfit is adorable! I would put my daughter in this ALL the time as a little one.  The print is cute, and I love the fluttery little sleeves.  So sweet for any time of the year at all.  Seriously.

07 // Unicorn Bracelet
This bracelet is so cool! It is hand stamped and says “Everyday I’m sparkling” which is so obviously true. 😉 This would be so great as a part of any arm party.

08 // Pink & Gold Unicorn Stick Hobby Horse
These look like so much fun.  It gives kids the chance to pretend to ride a little horse around the house, but in this case that horse is a UNICORN. SO amazing and magical.  It’ll make any play-date sparkle.

what are your favourite unicorn things?

Alysa

Unicorn Love: for Mama

In my next installment of amazing things on etsy that have to do with unicorns, here are things for women/adults/mamas!  I specify for mamas because I am a mama, but these items would be awesome for just about anyone.  I’m so excited to share the next few items with you, because they are majestic AF and amazingly magical unicorn things for adults.

01 // Unicorn Mom Glass
Unicorn Mom: A mother who’s not perfect, enjoys alcohol, has a sense of humor and couldn’t care less what you think.  See also: beautiful boss, zero f#&ks given.  Adorable glass that clearly needs to have some kind of fun cocktail in it.  Would be great for a mama’s birthday, or Mother’s Day 😉

02 // Unicorn Bracelet
Gorgeous gemstone beaded bracelet, inspired by unicorns.  This bracelet is more subtly unicorn themed, but would be the perfect gift for your friend who loves unicorns.  It’s so pretty and I can’t stop looking at it!

03 // Ceramic I Love Unicorns Pin
This vintage pin is simply adorable, and would make any backpack or denim jacket (or wherever else you put pins 😉 ) I love the vintage aspect of it, too! It makes it seem way more unique and one of kind.

04 // Majestic AF Unicorn Tank
If anyone dares question how majestic you are, you should definitely get this shirt to show them that you are majestic AF!! So perfect for anyone tbh. I would love to wear this, personally.

05 // Unicorn Silhouette Earrings
Oh my goodness, these are ADORABLE!! I love unicorn silhouettes, and I love the way these ones mix wood with a magical purple.  I love them so much, if only my children would let me wear earrings 😉

06 // Unicorn Tote Bag
I LOVE this bag.  It looks amazingly large and spacious, and I could fit SO many things in this bag.  As a mama, I find that my bag is filled with so much stuff, and I know that a bag like this would actually contain everything I need on a regular basis.

07 // Unicorn Notebook Insert
This would be so handy, for any planner-fans out there!  It’s so fun to add a little kick of something magical to a day planner, and this would be so perfect for that.  The art is beautiful, and it would give your day planner a little something special.

08 // Unicorn Macaron Planner Clip
This is SO adorable.  I want it for my day planner tbh, bc I would absolutely love using it.  I love the workmanship here, it would spunk up any dayplanner.

Which of these is your favourite?

Alysa

Unicorn Love: To Relax With

I don’t know if you knew this about me, but I absolutely love unicorns.  I’m sitting at my desk, and to my left is a golden unicorn lamp.  And to my right there is a little unicorn picture on the wall.  Unicorns are awesome, and I love celebrating them.

I sell on Etsy, and I buy on Etsy, and I’ve been looking around and there is a LOT of unicorn stuff on Etsy these days.  Which is so awesome for unicorn lovers like me, right?  So this is post one of a series about alll the unicorns you can find on Etsy!

01 // Unicorn Hooded Blanket
This blanket looks SO cozy!  Perfect for a cool fall day, when you just want to look at a candle and/or read a book by a fireplace.  Or binge watch your fave Netflix show.  Plus, why would you do any of those things as a normal person when you can be a unicorn while doing them? Way more exciting 😉

02 // Unicorn Soap with Rubber Toy Inside
I love taking baths, and this would be a lovely addition to any bath or shower.  It looks like it would be a lot of fun for a kid, too.  See how many baths they have to take before they can get the toy out!

03 // Unicorn Eye Mask
After your bath, it’s time to take a nap, and what better to help you nap during the day than an eye mask?  This one looks so soft, plus, you can’t go wrong with gold unicorns!

04 // Sculpted Unicorn Bath Bomb
This one is so beautiful, I would probably just display it by the tub if I’m being honest.  It is a bath bomb though, which would make for a really nice bath.  I’m obsessed with bath bombs haha but I don’t think I could use this one.  It’s just so pretty.

05 // Watercolour Unicorn Mug
What could be more relaxing than looking at this gorgeous watercolour unicorn?  Picture it: hot tea, that unicorn blanket and whatever form of entertainment you enjoy.  Sounds like a perfect afternoon to me!

06// Unicorn Bath Bomb
This unicorn bath bomb looks SO sweet, doesn’t it?  It’s guaranteed to add a little bit of magic to any bath <3

How many of you want to relax with a unicorn now?  I know I do!  It’s just hard to decide where to start 😉

Stay tuned next week, for the second post in the Unicorn Love series.

An Easter Basket for a Baby & a Toddler

Last year, I shared what we had in our one year old’s Easter basket (here).  This year, we have a nearly one-year-old and a nearly two-and-a-half year old!  Very different needs when it comes to their Easter baskets!  I know it’s a week after Easter, but I still really wanted to share.  I had so much fun putting them together!

First of all, can I just talk about how cute these little bunny baskets are?  I got the pattern from Sew Much Ado!  It’s a free pattern for personal use only, but here’s the directions to make your own!  I had only one bunny bag last year, and now that I have two kids, I needed to find a second one, or make two new ones.  I went with option B.  I really like the idea of Easter baskets that match each other.  Each child gets their own, but they also go together.  Also, if we have another baby, I can whip up a third one very easily.

Here’s what’s IN the baskets:

Toddler:
Easter Cup
I really liked giving my daughter a new cup last year at Easter.  So, I got them both similar ones for this year!  Unfortunately, last year’s cup didn’t last very long.  She dropped it and the lid shattered.  I hope to get more use out of the ones from this year.  They’re so much fun, especially with the curly straw!

Knit Bunny
I made knit bunnies for my shop as a free gift with purchase for those who purchased a bunny bonnet from me this spring, and while I was making those, I made a couple that were slightly bigger so I could put them in the Easter baskets.  You can find the instructions to make your own here!

Aero Lamb
I decided to get the same chocolate for the Easter basket this year as I did last year.  My daughter still isn’t having tons of sweets, and this was a nice small treat for her.  Plus, she’ll be getting a chocolate bunny from her Grandma, and she doesn’t need two! 😉

Big Girl Underwear
How much fun am I? I like to add these necessities in the Easter basket (and stocking) because she’ll need them anyway, and they’ll be fun for her to open up on Easter morning.

Shampoo
Told you I was a fun mom 😉 But for real, this shampoo has Frozen characters on it, so she’s going to love it.  She’s obsessed.  And she’s starting to have enough hair now that it might be a good idea to wash her hair with shampoo instead of the all in one baby soap.

Sunglasses
I was so excited to find these. My daughter has been really into putting on sunglasses lately, and these will fit her face!  She loved getting them and doesn’t ever want to leave the house without her glasses haha

The Story of Easter Book
Last year, I looked for a cute Easter book and I was so happy to find one this year!  It’s got a simple story that is easy for little ones to understand.  It also has great pictures.  It’s a lot of fun to read to them both.

Baby Basket:

Easter Cup
Aiden doesn’t really drink that much water out of cups just yet, so I thought this would be a great way for him to start learning, with his very own cup.  It’s also so cute, and it matches Autumn’s.

Knit Bunny
I made both the knit bunnies, and this one is Aiden’s! I loved the yarn I used, and I love how it turned out.

A Book of Bedtime Prayers
Such a cute little book.  It has gold around the edges of the pages, too.

Owlies
To be completely honest… I just put this in because his basket seemed a little … well… empty in comparison to his sisters.  I put this because he loves them and I wanted to give him something he could eat, too.  It actually worked out really well because Aiden didn’t really care about his basket at all, so I’m glad that we didn’t overdo it this year.

What did you put in your little ones baskets?

Alysa

Valentine’s Day Ideas for Parents

Valentine’s Day is coming up and as a parent of little ones, sometimes that means figuring out a date night for after bedtime, right in your own home!  I love stay-in date nights, especially in the winter, because you don’t have to go anywhere, you don’t have to go out in the cold, and you don’t have to scramble for a sitter. Win-Win!  Here are a few ideas for the perfect Valentine’s Day Date Night In <3

This post contains affiliate links. If a purchase is made through the use of one of my recommendations, I may receive a small commission, which would be a lovely little blessing for my family

Alright, let’s set the scene.  The kids are in their beds, they’re actually asleep!  It’s Valentine’s Day. You and your significant other go to the dining room to enjoy a romantic Valentine’s Day Date Night In.  What do you need?

01 // A pretty candle to make your after dinner desert romantic
I like having a candle burning of ambiance, but especially on Valentine’s Day!  We’ll have a nice dessert and a hot beverage, and have a candle going!  It’ll be so lovely.

02 // Matching Couples Mugs for your coffee or tea
What’s better than Luke & Leia quotes for your Valentine’s Day Date?  The lines are classic, plus, it’s really cute to have matching mugs <3

03 // A game to play for two
What could be more romantic then trying to get your affections known by the princess?  Love Letter is a fun game to play with two or more, so it’s perfect for a date night with your love.  It’s also really easy to play, and quick, so it works well if you don’t have a lot of time to play!

04 // A gift to personalize for your love
It’s fun to write cute messages to each other, and this journal is even cuter because you can write in whatever you want in an adorable package!

05 // Couples Pillowcases … to end the night 😉
I love the idea of matching pillowcases for the bed, and these are just darling!  <3

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day?

Alysa

Our Verse for 2017

For the past two years, I’ve done the ~Word of the Year~ thang, and shared it in my blog.  This years word is BOLD.  Another thing we’ve done as a family for the past two years is choose a verse to go along with that word!  Here is the verse for 2017

“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength
They will soar on wings like eagles
They will run and not grow weary
They will walk and not grow faint”
– Isaiah 40:31

Last year, our verse had to do with starting a new journey.  We knew we were going to be looking for a new place to call our home church, and we knew we were starting out on something new.  This year, the word we thought of when we were praying over what verse we should put in this spot was strength.  We found our new church and we have begun making friendships and connections there.  We want to strengthen our friendships and relationships with the people we’ve met in 2016 at our new church, as well as with our friends.

It’s tough making friends, especially as a mom with little ones.  I have found that this is definitely a time of life where the phrase “for a reason, a season, or a lifetime” comes up a lot.  There are friends we don’t talk to as much anymore, and there are friends who have become even closer to us in this time.  I’m so grateful for the people in my life who have stuck by me through the pregnancies and births of both my children.  It means so much to me, not only that they’re still wanting to spend time with us, but also how much they love and care for my children.  This year will be about strengthening and developing those relationships <3

Our Christmas Tree 2016

I love our tree this year so much.  It’s HUGE!  Andrew went on the first day they were available, and picked the tallest one he could find.  It was packaged so nicely that it led us to believe that it would be a tall skinny tree.  Well, we unwrapped it and KA-POW! GIANT!  It takes up so much of the living room, but I don’t care. I love it so much!

And every year Christmas with Autumn is more fun than the last.  This year, she’s more aware of things.  She was there when Andrew brought home this tree, so any time anyone mentions the tree, she talks about how Daddy brought it home haha. It’s really cute!

xoxo,
Alysa
