5 things to do to beat the January Blues

Last week, I shared a post of fun things going on in January in Winnipeg.  But what if you don’t live in Winnipeg, or you just aren’t interested in doing those things?  Here is a list of things you can do this month anywhere!

  1. Host a Clothing Swap
    A couple of years ago, my friend and I hosted a pretty big clothing swap together, and it was a lot of fun.  But something even more fun would be to invite your girlfriends over and bring gently worn (clean) clothes that you just don’t wear anymore, and swap them!  If you’re all at least around the same size, it works really well.  Plus, it’s a really great way to complete one of your potential New Years resolutions of decluttering 😉 AND a great excuse to hang out with your friends and potentially drink wine and eat snacks.  Then, if there’s anything left over, you can give it to a charity.  It’s a win-win-win!!
  2. Have a Star Wars marathon
    I personally haven’t seen the Star Wars movies in years (at least a decade), and I would love to rewatch them myself before I see the new movie.  You can do this by yourself, with your significant other, or with a bunch of friends.  You could even all be wearing your pjs to do it!  When we do it, we’re probably going to do machete order, so you can watch it in a different order than you’ve seen before, too.
  3. Go to a new restaurant
    I don’t know about where you live, but Winnipeg always has new restaurants and shops opening.  January is a slow slow slow time for the restaurant industry, so checking out that new restaurant or coffee shop you’ve been meaning to go to is perfect right now.  And, it gives you an excuse to actually go out!
  4. Host a wine tasting
    Have your friends bring over their fave wine and maybe an appetizer or desert that goes with the wine, and then everyone can enjoy all the different types of wine and all the different types of food.  Oh, and if you do this one please tell me about it so I can live vicariously through you and your ability to drink wine at this time 😉
  5. Check out a local spa
    Just like the restaurants, it always seems like there are new spas opening up in this city all the time! Whether it’s a new one or not, spending the day at the spa would be so lovely right now!  You could get your nails done, get a massage, a facial, whatever you wanted.  We just got massages at the beginning of the month, so of course all I can think about is going again :p Plus, if your insurance covers massages, you might even be able to get it free or close to free! So awesome 🙂
