Books of 2015: April

06. Baby-Lead Weaning by Gill Rapley & Tracey Murkett
This book was really interesting.  I went to a workshop type thing about introducing solids to babies, and that was all about purees… but I had heard from a friend about baby-lead weaning and how beneficial that is to do instead.  I was definitely curious, and thought that maybe I would do both, a little bit of spoon feeding, and some baby-led stuff.  This book totally changed that and I am so excited to start giving Autumn actual food.  She’s definitely seeming interested in it, at least she tries to grab things that we eat when we’re holding her.  It was great to be able to read the book and hear the why and the how of baby-lead weaning (aka baby-led solids).  I can’t wait to start!!

What have you been reading lately?

Alysa

  1. I read this book too and it convinced me to mostly let my baby feed herself. According to the book BLW babies love trying food and are less fussy eaters, which is what cinched it for me. So far so good; she will eat most things.

    1. I’ve been trying to find it! We’ve started and I have trouble coming up with family meals that we’d all enjoy, so I’m definitely going to have to get the cookbook, too 🙂
