There are SO many ways to predict gender, it’s so difficult to determine which one is actually accurate. Each one has a 50% chance of being correct, so you really never know until either the ultrasound or until the baby arrives!
Since our ultrasound is tomorrow morning, I thought I’d take a look at a few of the Old Wives Gender Prediction test and share what my results were.
1. Ring Test
You take your husbands wedding band, attach it to a piece of your hair (or a thread), then you hold it over the mothers belly. If the ring spins in circles, it’s a girl. If the ring goes back and forth, it’s a boy.
I wanted to see a couple of times if it would keep doing the same one. At first, it was clear circles. Then I stopped it and tried again, more circles. Then my husband held the string and it did lines. So I did it again, and it went in circles. Results: ?? It did both!
2. Heart Rate
If the heart rate is above 140 beats per minute, it’s a girl. If it is under 140 bpm, it’s a boy.
Both times we got the heart rate from my doctor, it was above 140.
3. Shape of Belly
If the mother is carrying high, it’s a girl. If she’s carrying low, it’s a boy.
I’m carrying low!
If the mothers legs get really big, it’s a boy. If their legs stay the same, it’s a girl!
My legs have stayed the same.
5. Chinese Gender Test
How it works is they take the mothers age, and the month of conception, and that will tell you if it’s a boy or a girl.
6. Side You Rest On
If the mother prefers to sleep on her left side, she’s having a boy. If she sleeps on her right side, it’s a girl!
I’ve been sleeping primarily on my right side.
7. What do you think?
Apparently, 71% of the time, the mother knows what she’s having. Results: Girl
8. Morning Sickness
If the mother has a smooth pregnancy with no morning sickness, it’s a boy. If not, it’s a girl!
9. Clumsy or Graceful
If the mother becomes super clumsy, she’s having a boy. If she’s very graceful, she’s having a girl.
I don’t think there’s really been a change here? I don’t think I’m more or less clumsy than normal, which is not that clumsy.
If the mother is having lots of headaches, it might be a boy. (Why?? Boys are more of a headache?? haha who knows)
Let’s add them up:
So who knows!
I will keep you posted when I actually find out 😉
